Wellbeing healthcare-specialized university
The word 'well-being' has become an essential part of people's living in the age of homo-hundred. People want to live well, eat well, dress well and play well with the development of new technology and building of wealth. In these circumstances,  Mokpo Science University (MSU) adopted 'Global Wellbeing University' as its vision in 2014 and has attempted to develop diverse programs in the endeavor. 

It is reported that 20% of the population in South Jeolla Province are over 65 and the demand for wellbeing services for elderly people has increased to a considerable extent. To meet the demand, MSU has developed a number of innovative wellbeing programs such as health check-up, physical therapy, healthy recipes, meditation, Taichi practice and cultural events and has actively provided these services to elderly people living  in 10 major cities of the region. MSU hopes these programs will make a great contribution to the wellbeing of  Korean society.

Good teaching and good learning improve employability
MSU encourages students with 'self-leadership' through which they can maximize their potential and talent. The contents of self-leadership also includes building a road map for life and a career path as well as personality training, problem solving capability, NCS-based job training, meditation and volunteer activities. MSU attempts to deepen understanding of its students and develop wisdom through case studies, discussions, problem-based learning and so on. It focuses on a student-oriented learning and encourages professors to adopt new teaching methods such as 'Flipped Learning.'

The sole lifelong vocational training university in Gwangju and Jeonnam
Mokpo Science University was designated as the sole VET-specialized university of Korea in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions and secured a 25 million dollar government fund for the year 2014 to 2018. It has run both degree and non-degree programs designed to facilitate people to find their jobs and/or to strengthen their work-capability with the support of such programs as NCS-based courses, master crafts training, capstone design, and/or overseas training. The non-degrees programs, for example, had produced a total number of 2,586 students with 103 courses as of 2016. Seeing the potential of the market demand for operation of construction machines, MSU  has secured necessary facilities in order to respond to the demand of farmers and fishermen, and obtained the authority to provide related qualification certificates. Some of the certificate courses are healthcare workers, BLS education and safety control. 

Programs like yacht design and  wellbeing healthcare make MSU stand out
Mokpo Science University participated in a super yacht R&D project and drew a 3 million dollar research fund (2015~2019) for yacht interior design from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs. The university established the Department of Yacht Design this year and has run an in-house yacht interior business. Meanwhile, diverse Wellbeing Healthcare programs come from 8 departments including nursing, hair and skin care, physical therapy, dental hygienics, cooking and nutrition, and practical music. "MSU has made strenuous efforts to foster field-centered wellbeing healthcare specialists and clearly sees the future market demand and hopes its endeavor will bear fruit." says president Park Key-chong of Mokpo Science University. The university has sought overseas cooperation with universities and businesses of the US, Canada, Australia, Europe and South East Asia in order to promote exchanges and overseas employment. "Our 'MSU VISION 2025' aims at providing manpower needed in healthcare industries in the future.
