Andong values high of treating guests with utmost care. Yemijeong in this respect is second to none in terms of greeting customers with its unique delicacies and decorum. Yemijeong is proud of running Andong Head Family Delicacies Experience Hall where hundreds of years of its tradition has passed down intact. CEO Jo said “Andong Head Family Delicacies Experience Hall opened in 2012 with support of organizations and companies in an effort to keep the tradition and to pass it down in this age where the conception of head family is getting disappeared.” The hall currently is running 60 experience programs. “Andong is rich in bean and paste related food and Andong Mixed Rice, Andong Picked Up Noodle, Hutjesabab (soy sauce based mixed rice) and Jubbinsangcharim (table for VIP) are particularly famous. The experience programs also include traditional Korean ritual such as wedding, one year birthday ceremony and ancestral ritual. 

History of head family delicacies and its modern interpretation
Time not only changes the landscape but the appetite of people. Jo’s line, however, is to keep the balance between the tradition and its modern interpretation as the bias can lose both identities. Jo launched Andong Head Family Delicacies Promotion Agency through which he has carried out a research on recipes of the head families in Andong for the last 3 years. Jo introduced his findings through the programs of Andong Head Family Delicacies Experience Hall. He said “The delicacies of head families are a culture and must be preserved. However, I reduced the salty and spicy characters of Andong food and avoid the same seasonings and recipes in similar foods.” In an effort to globalize Andong specialties, Jo started a preparation for food processing and distribution projects from last year. He now is ready to push it forward from this year and he will also participate in various food related expos and festivals. 

Korean food to go global
Taleb Rifai, the secretary general of UN World Tourism Organization visited Andong twice and tasted the delicacies of Yemijeong. Impressed by the food, he invited Jo to International Tourism Fair in Spain – Fitur held January 2017. Jo said “I’m determined to promote excellence of Korean food and the delicacies of Yemijeong at the fair with all my strength.” Jo is confident in keeping the tradition while adopting also the global food trend. He said that although Thai, Japanese, Italian and French foods were better known in the world, there certainly was possibility for Korean food to go global when passion and strategic marketing were backed up. <Power Korea> wishes Jo and Yemijeong a successful 2017.
