Daejeon meets with culture

SEVEN FACTORY opened it door in February 2013 as a total cultural complex in Daejeon City. It has functioned as a space where all age groups gather together to enjoy and share culture. It has now become a representative cultural space in the city and is contributing to development of regional culture. CEO Gwon says “There has been a certain limitation for residents to enjoy culture in Daejeon. Of course there are numerous places for music and books but a total cultural complex like SEVEN FACTORY has been non-existent.

Gwon named the place as SEVEN FACTORY meaning fun, academy, culture, talk, opportunity, ridiculous and yummy which are the elements he wants to realize in one space. For this, Gwon turned two containers into the space by himself with his own unique design. The two storey containers have become a landmark in the area. It has a main hall, showroom, gallery illuminated by a large screen and lightings. With accepting various cultural events, it also functions as a cafe or pub. To enhance his business further, CEO Gwon signed a partnership with Hyundai Card, Hyundai Motors, SangsangMadang and SK in order to provide a variety of programmes including lectures on culture & art, charity concert, movies, halloween party and solo exhibitions. 

Filling up the space with diversity
Since its opening of SEVEN FACTORY, CEO Gwon has never stopped studying on culture and art by reading numerous home and overseas books. Gwon says “The uniqueness of SEVEN FACTORY, I think, comes from diversity like a chameleon changes its colour according to each season.” You can have a exhibition if you are an artist and also sell your art works. If you are a university student with no money, you can use a space free of charge. Gwon manages everything from design, interior, menus and background music. But he is still thirsty in finding cultural contents. With success of SEVEN FACTORY, CEO Gwon currently is planning to diversify his business. As the first project, he is mapping on glamping business under the name of ‘Fridaisy’ with which he wants to provide a totally different level accommodation experience. Meanwhile, Gwon actively shares his ideas with those who have passion in the similar field. He actually has delivered his knowhow to 6 startups. Gwon says “I would like to see more and more total cultural spaces in Korea so that people can communicate with people through a variety of cultural events.
