Cooking Art to create jobs and foster children’s emotion
Introducing Korea’s first creative cooking institute Cooking Art
CEO Okhee Kim of Cooking Art

Healthy eating habit with Cooking Art
Korea’s first creative cooking institute Cooking Art is realizing artistic value of cooking. If existing cooking academies are focusing on recipe, Cooking Art encourages you to put your creativity into making food. A mother of four children and CEO of Cooking Art Okhee Kim majored in children education & home economics. She combined healthy eating habit, ingredient and recipe with children education to establish Cooking Art. Cooking Art teaches about the contents and advantages of each ingredient through curriculum full of ideas and fun. For example, Kim dug out the middle part of bread to put food and made it into a certain shape.

This attracted a great attention from school parents. Kim said “Children get excited when I tell that a chick eats the yolk for food in the egg. I found children became more interested and creative when hearing a good story than making food with paper, clay and sorghum straw.” Kim introduced Kids Chef Program and gives certificate if children complete the 3 month course. Through this program children understood about the history and ingredient of each vegetable and improved their biased eating habit. Kim also introduced an adult program ‘Rice Baking’ this year and adopted handmade rice bread, snack and cake which we can only buy or taste in a few bakeries or in-flight meal. Many adults who are allergic to a certain food praised the program. Kim is currently preparing to introduce yet another course which can prevent bad easting habit.

Issuing private certificates and providing startup support
Kim said “The teachers of Cooking Art are your mother who can take care of your health. Therefore, all of our courses are full of health, wellbeing and creativity.” Not only children can learn about food and change their bad easting habit but also adults can understand correlation between food and health at Cooking Art. As Kim’s popularity grew and she was constantly invited from various organizations to give a lecture, Kim decided to launch a franchise. She said “I have met directors of 70 branches who will carry out joint research with Cooking Art for the last 18 months.

We shared each other’s experience and research materials to make good programs and teaching materials. They are like my family.” Programs of Cooking Art include Job Experience Program, Teacher Training, Cooking Art Certificate Course, 8 Private Certificate Courses and Startup Course for all age groups. Kim said “Students can learn food ingredients by playing and I also applied language, science and mathematics to the playing. For this reason, many people are showing a great interest in having a certificate. Currently, I’m planning to invite cooking specialists to further improve the quality of our programs.” Power Korea hopes that Kim and Cooking Art will play a great role to diversify the methods of cooking education.
