Successful start-up starts with right information
Alongside his role as the Head of Korea Start-up Economic Research Institute, Kim is also the CEO of Omogary Kimchi Stew as well as running Omogary Farming & Forestry which is a fermentation specialized enterprise. He worked as an outside professor at Yonsei University and carried out famous franchise training. Omogary realized aristocratic and royal cuisine in the Joseon Dynasty into products and sell them as fermented food. 

Kim says "if you want a successful start-up, you need to gather right information and practical knowledge from specialists in the field. You must make yourself diligent." This means that you need to ask for advice from someone who can be your mentor. Kim continues "your mentor can be a person but it can also be a successful company." It means that choosing a successful franchise is as good as having a good mentor.

Paying attention to trendy franchise
Kim says that the most important thing in starting a business is to choose a right item. You need to make sure about your preference and goal not to mention its profitability. You also need to thoroughly check on the franchise you hope to engage in such as visiting the head office and their stores. 

Kim says "it is absolutely not advisable to choose a franchise only by hearing its reputation. You need to check whether a staff from the head office directly runs a store or family members and relatives are involved in running the franchise." It is also important to check on the profitability in comparison with intensity of labor. Following the trendy item thoughtlessly is certainly a problem but equally so is to ignore the main stream of the market. So you need to have a balanced thought. Kim added "it is not true that all the trendy items disappear soon as the word 'trendy' means that it can make profits. Therefore, it is advisable to develop a trendy item with your own idea." 

Meanwhile, Kim predicted that small scale take-out ice flakes desert will be a trend considering the fact that the item was a massive hit in the market last year.
