붉은 빛 감도는 탐스러운 석류, 생명의 아름다움 이야기해
연변 아리랑 국제미술제 등 다수 전시 참여해

'내 마음의 보석' 등 독특한 기법 작품으로 생명의 아름다움 보여줘
송민선 화가의 작품을 바라보면 석류의 붉은 빛이 쏟아져 나올 듯 생생하게 느껴진다. 흙을 기본 소재로 하여 모래와 금분, 반짝이 등 다양한 재료를 활용해 만들어낸 석류의 정물화는 추상의 바탕과 어울려 추상과 구상의 미묘한 만남을 캔버스에 구현해 낸다. 과일을 소재로 한 정물화는 이미 많은 작가들이 시도한 내용이지만 송 화가의 작품은 그보다도 훨씬 생동감 넘치는 생생한 질감이 독특한 매력을 자아낸다. 구상과 비구상의 만남을 추구해 탄생과 소멸이라는 철학적 깊이를 더해주기 때문이다.

석류는 전통적으로 많은 종자를 가진 과실이라는 특징 때문에 다산의 상징이 되며, 전통 혼례복에도 포도문양․동자문양과 함께 자주 사용되어 자손을 많이 낳고 특히 아들을 많이 낳으라는 기복적인 뜻이 담겨 있다. 또한 기독교적인 종교의 언어로 해독해 보면 희망의 상징, 그리스도와 보혈의 상징, 부활교회의 상징으로 사용되기도 했다. 그렇기 때문에 동서양을 막론하고 생명의 직접적인 상징인 석류를 그리는 것은 생명의 아름다움을 보여주는 작업이라 할 수 있다.

이번 서울오픈아트페어에서는 송 화가의 '내 마음의 보석', '석류가 있는 오후에', '작은 풍요' 등의 작품이 전시되었다. '내 마음의 보석'은 석류의 알을 바라보고 송 화가가 느낀 감정을 캔버스에 붉은 보석을 붙여 표현한 작품이다. 이 작품은 마치 보석이 형형색색으로 빛나는 느낌을 통해 보는 이의 마음을 치유해주는 듯한 느낌을 전해 준다. 또한 50호 규모의 '작은 풍요'는 LG 그룹 건물 로비에 전시되기도 한 작품으로 커다란 캔버스에 붉은 빛이 감도는 석류가 생의 감각을 불러일으키는 역작이다.

밥퍼나눔 자선전시회, 한국미술의 신르네상스전 등 전시 참여하며 주목받아
송민선 화가는 동덕여자대학교 미술대학을 졸업하고 2007년 인사동 타블로 갤러리, 2008년 압구정동 쿤스트 갤러리를 비롯해 개인전 및 초대전을 7회 열었으며, 2008년 중국 연변 아리랑국제미술제, 2010~2011년 공평갤러리 한국미술의 신르네상스전, 2013년 서울시의회 밥퍼나눔 자선전시회 등 다수의 단체전에 참여하며 이름을 널리 알리고 있는 화가다. 서울시의회와 함께한 자선전시회에서는 작품에 대한 수익금으로 기부에 동참했으며, 청량리 다일공동체에서 열린 밥퍼나눔 봉사활동에도 직접 참여한 바 있다. 송민선 화가는 8월 1일부터 30일까지 Out of Africaculture gallery cafe에서 초대 개인전이 있을 예정이며 현재 여성 CEO로서 남다른 감각과 디자인을 바탕으로 도서출판샘을 운영하고 있다.

'My Heart's Jewel', expressing beauty of life through unique technique
The works of artist Song Min-sun are so vivid as if the red hue of pomegranate is about to pour down. Her pomegranate still life is made of earth, sand, gold power and glitter and expresses a delicate meeting between abstract and representational. Many artists tried still life with fruit but Song gives more vivid texture and uniqueness by pursuing representational and nonrepresentational to add philosophical depth about life and death to it. 

Because of its many seeds inside, pomegranate can symbolize productiveness and used in traditional wedding ceremonies to wish the couples an abundant offspring. It also symbolizes Jesus and his precious blood as well as the resurrection of church. Therefore, painting pomegranate can be a work to show the beauty of energy and vitality both in east and west. 

Song exhibited 'My Heart's Jewel', 'Afternoon with Pomegranate' and 'Small Abundance' at Seoul Open Art Fair this year. My Heart's Jewel, expressed with red jewels, shows the feelings Song had when she was looking at the seeds of pomegranate. You might feel your heart being healed by its glittering effect in multiple colors. Small Abundance is sized by 162cm x 130cm and was exhibited in the lobby of LG Group Building and its red hue of the pomegranate arouses a sense of life. 

Participating in Bobfor Sharing Charity Exhibition and Neo-Renaissance Exhibition of Korean Art
Song graduated from College of Art at Donduk Womens University and held solo and invitation exhibitions for 7 times in various galleries including Tablo Gallery in Insadong (2007) and Kunst Gallery in Apgujeong-dong (2008). She also participated in Yanbian Arirang International Art Festival, Gongpyong Gallery's Neo-Renaissance Exhibition of Korean Art from 2010 to 2011 and Bobfor Sharing Charity Exhibition at Seoul Metropolitan Council in 2013. She donated her profits generated from her works through Bobfor Sharing Charity Exhibition to the needy and she also participated in Bobfor Sharing Voluntary Service held at DAIL Community in Cheongnyangni. 

Song is scheduled to have Invitation Solo Exhibition at Out of Africaculture gallery cafe from August 1 to 30. Currently, she is CEO of Sam (book publishing company) is running the company with different sense and design.
