Packaging innovation with added eco-friendly material and functional mineral

Each year, farm village becomes busy at the harvest season. Especially, they are putting their heart and soul to ship farm products they have sincerely grown for a long time without damage to them. It is because farm produce is a living body and a little failure in management after harvest could lose salability and make it impossible to get the right worth. After harvest, breathing, color, physical change, proliferation, etc. occur to farm produce causing damage or deterioration. Though it is impossible to prevent such loss in farm produce 100%, while advanced countries show a loss of 10% or more, our country stands at around 30% revealing insufficiency in management. 

Product loss at 3 to 4 trillion won, in desperate need for packaging innovation
The report on monitoring the loss of fruits shipped from APC (Agricultural Products Processing Center) by stages says that the loss of products occurring in the process of handling main fruits including pear, apple, etc. from APCs currently operated around the country reaches 30-40% on the average. According to it, the loss caused by deterioration in quality and fall in product values occurring from insufficiency of management after harvest runs to 3-4 trillion won annually. Experts indicate that such problems have arisen from the poor perception of domestic agricultural industry on management after harvest. 

Product packaging is an important element to preserve the value of content in the process of circulation. Actually, ‘packaging’ started with human history and has been in line with its development. We who live in the middle of a city can come easily in contact with agricultural products from each region of the country because of the advanced packing technology. Park Byung-moon, president of Ecosingsing, explained, “Packaging is an essential process to increase preservation, sanitation and safety and provide convenience and protection in the course of circulation of farm produce. To protect the product value of farm produce and lower the loss rate leads to the profit of farm houses, and consumers can receive products in more healthy condition by having them maintain freshness.” 

High loss rates of products lead to the rising prices of farm produce, so in the recent circumstances of lowering the import barrier to farm produce, a higher concern and systematic support are needed for quality control after harvest to increase the competitiveness of our farm produce. Accordingly, Ecosingsing developed functional box and support in addition of eco-friendly substances and natural mineral of porous mica, which is resulting in the reduction of circulation losses and income increases of farm houses. 

Maximizes product values with strong antibiotic and hydrotropic effects
 
The functional cardboard packing box and functional vinyl developed by Ecosingsing are the technology registered with patent for invention. These show excellent effect on antibiotics and hydrotropism and contribute to increasing income by maintaining the freshness of fruits and vegetables and reducing logistics costs. 

Liner boards and bio-film for functional packing box in addition of food-grade materials and natural-ingredient mineral disinfect and remove each germ proliferating in the content of packing and harmful to human body, help suppress their proliferation and enable long-term preservation of package. Besides, they are an eco-friendly product harmless to human body by using natural ingredients, and its own antibiotic and hydrotropic effects has been proved by Korea Testing & Research Institute and Korea Conformity Laboratories. Then, by increasing tensile strength 20% compared to the existing product, it enables us to protect package and reduce logistics costs with the merit of recycling the box and support. 

President Park Byung-moon explained, “The packing box, support and vinyl produced by Ecosingsing contain the special mineral of natural mineral porous mica. This mineral has proven excellent functions in adsorption of heavy metal and poisonous gas, removal of all toxins, killing bacteria and molds, diffusion of strong negative ions, generation of dissolved oxygen, radiation of far infrared rays and adsorption of remaining agrichemicals. Especially, the function of absorbing matters of strong toxicity exercises a big effect on the freshness of package and long-term preservation.” 

Since they have strong hydrotropic and antibiotic effects, solidity and function of removing poisonous gas, Ecosingsing’s products can be applied not only to packing box for protecting the freshness and quality of farm produce or preventing damage to flowering plants, rice bag, box of fishes or stockfish but also to boxes for transporting fibers, electronic and industrial goods. Excellent technology of Ecosingsing is also proved by the signing of MOU with Dankuk University Bio Resources Environmental Institute in 2014. Through agreement, Dankuk University and Ecosingsing are jointly researching on management technology after harvest of flowering plant industry while going out to manufacture liner boards of packing box and Kraft paper and    share and use the capability and resources for increasing sales. 

With complex system of circulation and increasing consumer demands for high-level products, the purpose and use of packing are changing diversely.
