청명한 날씨를 손꼽을 수 없을 만큼 중국발 황사와 미세먼지로 몸살을 앓고 있는 대한민국의 봄. 요즘 세차가 고민이라고 말하는 사람들이 많다. 언제 세차를 했나싶게 이내 내려앉는 누런 먼지가 골칫거리인데, 매번 손세차를 맡기자니 경제적 부담이 너무 가중되고 기계세차를 하자니 행여 자동차에 기스라도 날까봐 걱정이 이만저만이 아니다. 하지만 최근에는 일반인들도 쉽게 접할 수 있는 다양한 자동차 세척제들이 개발되어 직접 손세차에 도전하는 사람들이 크게 늘어난 추세다. 그러한 셀프세차족 사이에서는 큰 이슈가 되고 있는 브랜드가 있어 화제인데 파이어볼이 바로 그 주인공이다. 완연한 봄날, 지겨운 세차고민을 한방에 해결해 줄 파이어볼의 모든 것을 장진혁 대표와 만나 자세히 알아봤다.

2002년 설립된 파이어볼(www.fireballkorea.com)은 석유화학 기초 원료를 수출입 및 유통하는 회사로, 현재 자동차 관련 부품을 해외로 수출하고 있다. 석유화학제조업을 일구어 온 부친의 영향을 받아 26세에 일찍이 사업에 뛰어든 장진혁 대표는 그동안 해외에서 원료를 수입해 국내에 유통 시켜 왔고, 그 원료를 기반으로 하여 국내에서 제조된 다양한 제품들을 다시 해외로 수출시켜 경제발전에 이바지 해 왔다. 지난 3월에는 야심차게 친환경 자동차 세척제 브랜드를 런칭하여 다시 한 번 세간의 이목을 집중시킨 바 있다. “리스크가 크고 국제유가에 따라 변동이 많은 석유화학 분야에 사업이 집중되어 있는 것을 보안하기 위해 사업의 방향을 다각화하려고 노력해 왔습니다. 그 과정 속에서 자동차 케미컬 분야의 가능성을 높이 평가하게 되었고, 새로운 분야로의 도전을 시작하게 되었습니다.”

파이어볼은 현재 스노우폼 샴푸를 필두로 타이어 광택제, 철분제거제, 휠세정제 등을 출시하여 뜨거운 반응을 이끌어 내고 있는데, 손쉽고 강력한 세정력이 그 인기의 원인으로 평가된다. 제품에 동봉되는 사용설명서를 따라하면 초보자도 쉽게 셀프 세차에 도전할 수가 있는데, 우선 쫀쫀한 하얀 거품이 특징이 스노우폼 샴푸를 차량에 고루 도포하고 5분 뒤 고압의 물을 이용해 1차 세차를 마치고 카샴푸와 스펀지를 이용해 가볍게 문질러준 후 세척하면 끝이 난다. 이후 타이어 광택제를 이용해 타이어에 묽은 때를 손쉽게 벗겨내고, 가죽보호제를 이용해 차량 내부까지 청소하면 전문 업체의 손세차에 버금가는 세정력과 눈부신 광택을 경험할 수 있게 된다. 그래서 파이어볼의 제품을 이용해 본 사람이라면 누구나 매우 간단한 세척법에 한 번, 깔끔한 세정력에 또한번 놀라게 된다. “국내에 유통되고 있는 모든 제품을 테스트하면서 오랜 시간 연구개발에 매진해 왔습니다. 특히 저희는 환경오염을 최소화 할 수 있는 친환경 제품을 만들기 위해 노력해 왔고, 소비자의 피부와 호흡기의 건강을 고려해 모든 세제를 중성으로 만드는데 총력을 다 쏟게 되었습니다.” 

무엇보다 파이어볼이 타사 제품과 비교되는 가장 큰 차이점은 모던하고 투명한 디자인과 감성을 자극하는 비비드한 컬러감에 있다. 장진혁 대표는 소비자가 제품의 상태와 변질 여부를 판단할 수 있도록 투명한 용기를 선택하여 소비자가 제품을 사용 전에 보고 제품을 상태를 보고 판단 할수 있도록 한 것 이라 덧붙였다.  

소비자들의 다양한 기호를 반영한 맞춤 제작 서비스 실시할 것
파이어볼은 15개 제품의 개발을 끝내고 현재 8개 제품이 인기리에 판매하고 있으며 현재 전국 제품투어 중이다. 기존에 시장에서 팔리고 있는 8가지 제품들은 전국투어에서 받은 피드백을 통하여 5월말경에 새로운 디자인과 포뮬러 보정을 하여 한층 업그레이드된 제품으로 출시를 계획하고 있다. 이후 소비자들이 업그레이드 된 제품을 만족한다며 나머지 7개의 제품이 보정작업을 거친 후 소비자들과 만날 예정이다. 특히 5월 출시를 목표로 달리고 있는 맞춤 제작 서비스는 자동차 케미컬 분야의 패러다임에 상당한 변화를 몰고 올 것으로 예상된다. “소비자들을 직접 만나 1대1 상담을 통해 그들이 원하는 광택의 정도와 컬러, 향기 등을 찾아주는 서비스를 준비 중에 있습니다. 이를 위해 직접 투어를 돌며 소비자들의 취향을 파악하고 있으며 그 데이터를 누적시켜 제품에 반영할 계획입니다.”

파이어볼코리아는 입문자용 자동차 세척제 파이어볼 출시에 이어 2년 후 좀 더 높은 스킬을 요구하는 데빌스 블러드(악마의 피) 와 버터플라이(나비효과) 를 차례로 출시한다는 방침이다. 물론 이미 국내 자동차 케미컬 분야를 외국계 대기업들이 장악하고 있어 시장 진출의 어려움이 예상되지만, 뛰어난 제품 성능, 감각적인 디자인, 맞춤 제작으로 시장을 잠식해 나간다는 전략이다. “파이어볼의 제품들은 별다른 홍보를 하지 않았음에도 이미 많은 곳에서 판매되고 있죠.  저희는 이러한 국내 시장의 뜨거운 반응을 발판 삼아 해외 시장 개척해 나갈 계획인데, 이미 일본과 중국의 계약이 성사된 상태입니다.” 현재 파이어볼의 제품은 엔공구몰(N09), 바보몰, 독특닷컴, 오아시스툴, 오토왁스, 지마켓, 옥션, CJ몰, 롯데닷컴, 롯데아이몰, 현대H몰등 온라인에서 쉽게 찾아 볼 수 있으며, 셀프 세차장과 주유소에도 판매 중에 있다. 홈페이지에서는 런칭기념행사의 일환으로 ‘1만 원 이상 파이어볼 제품 구매 시 1만원 단위로 파이어볼 전용 소분용기 증정’ 이벤트와 추첨을 통해 ‘니콘 카메라 10대 증정’의 이벤트가 진행 중에 있으니 평소 파이어볼에 관심이 많았던 사람들은 이 기회를 놓치지 말아야겠다.

Fireball (www.fireballkorea.com) was established in 2002. It distributes petrochemical basic raw materials and is currently exporting car parts to overseas countries. Influenced by his father who worked in the petrochemical field, Jang put himself in the business at the age of 26, imported raw materials to distribute to the domestic market, made various products based on the materials and exported them to overseas. In addition, you can clean the wheels by using tire polisher and the seat with leather protector to give a professional finish. Jang says "we carried out R&D by testing all the products in Korea in the hope of making eco-friendly products and made the detergents neutral to protect skin and respiratory organ." But the biggest advantages of Fireball products are sophisticated and transparent design and vivid color that can draw up customer's emotion. Introducing customized production services that satisfies the preference
Fireball has developed 15 products and 8 of them are currently on the market. The 8 products will have feedback from national product tour and the feedback will be reflected in making upgraded version through new formular and design and the rest 7 products will be released accordingly. Also, their customized production services starting from May is expected to create a sensation in the market. Lee says "we make the intensity of the detergent, the color and the cent in the way our customers prefer through 1:1 consultation. For this, we are currently touring the nation to build a data base which will be reflected in the new products." After releasing of basic Fireball products, Fireball is planning to introduce Devil's Blood and Butterfly that requires higher skills after 2 years. Although major corporations control the domestic car chemical market, Fireball plans to compete with them by high performance and sensual & customized design. Jang says "our products are sold in various places even though we haven't done much advertisement. With this popularity of our products, we already signed contracts with China and Japan and we are planning to expand the market."
