고객의 보험금, ‘1원’까지도 찾아내는 보험·보상 분야의 프로페셔널

건강하고 행복하게 살아가고자 하는 것은 모든 사람들의 가장 큰 바람이다. 하지만 수많은 질병과 예기치 못한 사고 등으로 건강한 삶을 온전히 영위하기란 쉽지 않다. 때문에 사람들은 ‘보험’을 통해 있을지 모르는 위협으로부터 자신을 보호하는 한편, 조금 더 편안하고 안락한 노후를 준비하고자 한다. 이에 따라 각 보험회사에서는 고객들의 요구에 발맞춰 다양한 보험 상품을 출시하고 있다.

고객의 정당한 이익을 보장하다
복잡하고 다양화된 현대 사회를 살아가는 개인들은 예측할 수 없는 사고 발생으로부터 끊임없는 위협을 받고 있다. ‘보험’은 이러한 사고 발생으로 인한 경제적 수요를 충족시키기 위한 가장 효율적인 수단이다. FM에셋 광주본부 모아지사의 박태현 팀장은 오랜 경력과 노하우를 바탕으로 고객들에게 최고의 보험 서비스와 보상을 약속하고 있는, 지역에서 손꼽히는 보험설계사다. 그는 고객에게 가장 좋은 혜택은 사은품이 아닌 ‘보상’이라는 철학으로 단 1원이라도 지급받지 못하는 금액이 없도록 세심한 관리와 보험설계에 힘쓰고 있다. 박 팀장은 “기업의 이익을 우선적으로 할 수 밖에 없는 보험회사들은 대개의 경우 보험금 지급을 거부하거나, 실제 지급가능 금액보다 감액하고자 하는 경향이 있습니다. 저는 이처럼 합당치 못한 절차와 과정으로 인해 고객들이 지급받지 못한 보험금을 청구하고, 제대로 된 보장을 받을 수 있도록 돕는 역할을 하고 있습니다”라고 설명했다. 

광주 지역뿐만 아니라 전국적인 회원망을 갖고 있는 박태현 팀장은 더 많은 이들에게 보험·보상에 대한 효과적인 정보를 알리고자 활발한 강의 활동도 펼치고 있다. 재무설계사로 5년간 일하며 한 달에 한 번씩 신입 대상의 보험 강의를 해오던 그는 2012년 FM에셋에 들어온 뒤 그간의 노하우와 경험을 토대로 본격적인 보험·보상 강의를 시작하게 됐다고 한다. 박 팀장은 “제가 강의를 시작하게 된 건 두 가지 이유에서였습니다. 첫 번째는 고객들께 제대로 된 보상을 드릴 수 있도록 보험설계사들의 역량을 키웠으면 하는 바람, 두 번째는 실적에 급급한 일부 설계사들의 잘못된 행동으로 고객 분들이 피해를 받지 않았으면 하는 마음이었습니다”라고 밝혔다. 박 팀장은 자신의 강의가 설계사에게 도움을 주고, 결과적으로 고객들에게 이익이 돌아가는 접점이 되리라는 생각에 더욱 열정을 쏟고 있다고 덧붙였다. 

고객 신뢰 회복을 위한 한 걸음
박태현 팀장의 ‘위험(보상)관리 및 생보/손보 주요특약’에 대한 강의는 크게 6가지의 내용 나뉜다. 먼저 보험설계사(재무상담사)들이 반드시 알아야 할 보험 상식을 주지하고, 실손의료비 핵심정리(표준 실손의료비 기준), 고지의무 사례와 해설, 부담보의 이해, 손해사정사가 조사 나왔을 때 대처법, 생명보험/손해보험 주요 특약 설명 등 고객들에게 실제적인 혜택이 돌아갈 수 있는 다양한 정보들을 다루고 있다. 관련 업종에서 6개월 이상 근무 경험이 있는 이들을 대상으로 한 중급강의 외에도 그는 신입FP를 위한 초급과정의 ‘보험상품의 이해’ 강의도 진행하고 있다.

박 팀장은 ‘강의를 듣는 것만으로 끝나서는 안된다’며 실천과 적용을 무엇보다 강조한다고 한다. 하지만 열심히 듣고도 막상 해보려고 하면 잘 되지 않아 쉽게 포기하는 분들도 많다고 덧붙였다. 그는 “제 강의는 A/S가 되는 강의입니다. 한번 들은 내용을 실제로 적용한다는 게 얼마나 어려운 일인지는 저 또한 잘 알고 있습니다. 때문에 강의를 듣고 나서 전화나 문자, 카톡을 통해 궁금한 점을 여쭤보는 분들께 모두 친절히 답해드리고 있습니다”라고 밝혔다.

그의 활동영역은 강의에 국한되지 않는다. 이미 지난 2007년경부터 운영해오던 개인 블로그(http://pth9420.blog.me)에는 보험과 보상과 관련된 내용들이 가득 차 있다. 최신 보험·보상 관련 이슈에서부터 관련 정보, 민원 절차, 참고할 만한 보험금청구 후기까지, 설계사뿐만 아니라 일반 고객에게도 도움이 되는 정보들이 꾸준히 올라오고 있어 많은 이들의 큰 호응을 받고 있다. 박 팀장은 “강의로 직접 찾아뵙지 못하는 분들이나, 보험·보상과 관련된 궁금증이 있는 분들을 위해 블로그를 운영하게 됐습니다. ‘공유하지 않는 지식은 썩은 지식이다’라는 생각으로 제가 알고 있는 정보들을 더 많은 분들과 나누기 위해 노력하고 있습니다”라고 말했다. 또한 작은 요소만으로도 보상금액이 달라지는 경우가 많으므로, 이에 대한 문의를 아끼지 말아달라는 당부도 덧붙였다.

고객들을 돕는 일에 가장 큰 보람을 느낀다는 박태현 팀장. 그는 보다 많은 보험설계사들이 정확한 정보와 올바른 마음가짐으로 최선을 다할 때, ‘보험에 대한 고객들의 신뢰’가 회복될 것이라고 강조했다. 또한 기회가 된다면 광주 시민들을 위한 보험 강의도 펼치고 싶다는 바람을 밝혔다. 각자의 맡은 일에 최선을 다한다면 보다 살기 좋은 세상, 행복한 사회가 되지 않겠냐는 박태현 팀장의 말에서 진정으로 ‘사람’을 향한 따뜻한 마음이 느껴졌다. 고객에 대한 따뜻한 시선을 언제나 거두지 않고 있는 그의 힘찬 전진을 기대한다.

Customer's legitimate profit guaranteed
Modern people living in a busy and complicated society are constantly threatened by unpredictable accidents. Insurance, in that terms, is the most effective means of satisfying economic demands. Park is a representative insurance expert in Gwangju who provide professional insurance services based on his long career and know-how in the field. His philosophy is 'retrieving even a penny of customer's insurance money' rather than offering them free gifts. Park says "insurance companies tend to pay less insurance money than the actual amount or they sometimes avoid payment. My job is to help find the unpaid amount and give it back to customers." Although Park is working in Gwangju, he has his customers nationwide and is actively giving lectures in order to provide right information about insurance and indemnity. He provided lectures for new employees while he was working as a financial planner for 5 years. This led him to give more professional lectures on insurance and indemnity when he started to work for FM Asset in 2012. Park says "I started providing lectures for two reasons. Firstly, I wanted to upgrade insurance planner's capability so that they can provide right insurance money and indemnity. Secondly, I wanted to protect our customers from financial damage."

Regaining customer trust
Park's lectures are consisted of 6 parts including basic insurance policy which insurance planners must know, core elements of actual medical expenses, cases and explanation of duty of disclosure, understanding of warranty free, handling the underwriter and explanation of special contract in life and indemnity insurance. He provides intermediate level lectures for those who have worked more than 6 months in the field as well as elementary level lectures on understanding of insurance products. Park emphasized on practice and application alongside theory but many planners give up while they are trying. Park says "it is really difficult to apply their knowledge in reality and for this, I answer every single question for them by using SNS." He also has been running his blog (http://pth9420.blog.me) since 2007 to provide information on insurance, indemnity, procedure of civil affairs and feedback about claiming insurance money. Park says "I'm running my blog in the hope of providing my knowledge for more people as I think that unshared knowledge is useless." Park added that people need to make an inquiry with even small things because it can change the amount of money they can receive. Park feels worth when helping his customers and emphasized that insurance planners can regain customer trust by providing right and honest information. Park also hopes to provide lectures for Gwanju citizens and said that if we all do our best we can create a better society.
