A ballerino's new challenge
"I will make a new culture where ballet and enterprise get together"
DIONE CEO Kibum Seo

Dreaming to challenge in Japan
Seo graduated from Kyung Hee University and worked for Seoul Ballet Theater and crossed into Japan in 2007 to spread his new dream in a bigger stage and eventually entered Tokyo City Ballet Theater after audition. He won the best performance at Busan Dance Festival and was selected from Nakano International Dance Competition in 2009. Seo says "Japan has a bigger market as ballet is widely recognized nationwide. I had more opportunities and learned many things there. Japanese people prefer traditional ballet while Korean people, I think, prefers creative ballet." Seo made his debut earlier and his first work 'The Song of Leaves' is based on autumn expressed through the music of Bach. One ballet magazine in Japan praised it by saying "it should be made into a repertory". Other works include 'Love of 3' which is the story he experienced himself, 'Devil's Temptation' which contains a fantasy element, and 'The Secret Room' which he made after watching Inception. Devil's Temptation was introduced at Ballet Festival Korea 2012 at Seoul Arts Center and was loved by many.

Creating a new culture for ballet and linking enterprise to it
Seo ended his six year career in Tokyo City Ballet Teather and established DIONE for a new challenge. He is preparing to make a new culture through collaboration between art industry and enterprises. Seo says "dance, in fact, is difficult to be run by the profits of performance only. It needs support from the government and enterprises and this makes hard for ballet industry to be independent. Therefore, the idea is to create the brand image of an enterprise by using ballet." It seems similar to Mecenat but it actually is different in a bigger picture. Seo says "I'm currently working with ballerinas and ballerinos who have worked in many countries including Japan, Canada and Sweden, and we will make a variety of innovative projects which the audience are enchanted to see. Through this, we will keep introducing creative works and culture." Seo only has been thinking about ballet and has done more than 100 performances home and abroad. It is his life. It is beautiful to see him exerting his utmost effort to create new culture in Korea. It seems certain that Seo will make ballet as a popular cultural icon in various fields one day.
