통일은 전 세계 공동번영의 신성장동력 될 것
- 허창수 회장, 한반도 통일에 대한 지지와 협조 부탁 -
전국경제인연합회는 지난달 23일 스위스 다보스 모로사니 슈바이처호프(Morosani Schweizerhof) 호텔에서 ‘2015 한국의 밤(Korea Night)’을 개최하였다. ‘통일한국, 무한한 가능성(A Unified Korea, Infinite Possibilities)’을 주제로 개최된 이번 행사에는 제이콥 프렌켈(Jacob Frenkel) JP모건 회장, 존피스(John Peace) 스탠다드 차타드 회장, 요리히코 코지마 미츠비시 회장, 토니 페르난데즈(Tony F. Fernandes) 에어아시아 회장, 이브라힘 알 아사프(Ibrahim Al Assaf) 사우디 아라비아 재경부 장관, 앨런 콘(Alan D. Cohn) 미국 국토안보부 차관 등 42개국 글로벌 리더 500여 명이 참석해 한반도 통일에 대한 높은 관심을 표현하였다. 국내에서는 허창수 전경련 회장, 윤병세 외교부 장관, 한덕수 무역협회 회장 등 20여 명의 정재계 인사들이 참석해 통일은 비용이 아니라 전 세계에 편익임을 알리고, 글로벌 리더들의 지지를 호소하였다.

허창수 회장 “통일은 전 세계 공동번영의 신성장동력이 될 것”
허창수 전경련 회장은 환영사를 통해 “한반도 통일은 전 세계가 공동 번영할 수 있는 신성장동력이 될 것”이라며 “특히, 일본·중국·러시아를 아우르는 동북아 경제권과 유라시아 이니셔티브는 새로운 투자와 비즈니스 기회를 열어줄 것”이라고 설명했다. 이어 “한반도 통일에 대한 글로벌 경제계의 지지와 협조를 부탁한다”고 당부했다. 작년 다보스 포럼에서 “통일대박“을 설파했던 박근혜 대통령은 ”국제사회와의 긴밀한 공조를 통해 한반도 통일시대가 머나먼 이상이 아니라 구체적 현실이 될 수 있도록 적극 노력해 나갈 것“이라며 국제사회의 지지를 당부하는 영상 메시지를 전했다. 이어서 기조연설자로 나선 윤병세 외교부 장관은 통일한국이 국제사회에 제시할 비전과 혜택에 대해 설명했다.

글로벌 경제계 “한반도 통일은 새로운 투자기회이자 한국 경제성장의 돌파구”
금번 ‘2015 한국의 밤(Korea Night)’에서는 ‘UNIFICATION’ 레터 구조물을 참석자들의 통일지지 메시지로 꾸며 해외 인사들의 시선을 사로잡았다. 존 피스(John Peace) 스탠다드 차타드 회장, 토니 페르난데즈(Tony Fernandes) 에어 아시아 회장 등 세계 경제계 거물들이 한반도 통일에 대한 지지 메시지를 보냈다. 존 피스(John Peace) 스탠다드 차타드 회장은 “한반도 통일은 현재 한국이 겪고 있는 노동력 감소, 국내 투자 위축, 저성장 등을 해결할 수 있는 한국 경제의 성장 돌파구가 될 것”이라고 전했다. 토니 페르난데즈(Tony Fernandes) 에어아시아 회장은 “통일 한국은 잠재가능성이 무궁무진하며, 이는 투자 기회가 될 것으로 많은 기대가 된다”고 하였다.

남한의 막걸리와 북한의 백로술, 다보스를 매료시켜
이번 행사에서는 남한의 불고기 샐러드, 닭강정, 북한의 옥수수 타락죽, 두부밥과 함께 남한의 대표 술 막걸리, 북한의 백로술 등 조화로운 남북의 메뉴를 선보여 참석자들로부터 높은 호응을 얻었다. 또한 개성공단에서 생산된 손수건을 기념품으로 전달함으로써 참석자들에게 남북화합과 통일에 대한 기원을 전달하였다. 

“선생님들도 경제 배워요!”
- 전경련, 교사 대상 경제연수 개최 -
전국경제인연합회(이하 ‘전경련’)는 2015년 겨울방학을 맞이하여 초중등 교사들을 대상으로 시장경제교육을 실시했다. ‘초중등 교사 경제교육 역량 강화’ 연수라는 이름으로 시행되는 전경련의 교사 직무연수 교육은 일반적인 경제 이론보다는 ‘기업과 기업인’, ‘역사와 함께 하는 경제교육’이 특징이다. 이번 연수에도 최종태 포스코 경영연구소 상임고문과 손길승 SK텔레콤 명예회장이 강사로 나섰고, 전경련과 유관기관 임원들이 ‘기업에 대한 오해와 이해’라는 주제로 강연했다. 작은 상점에서 시작해서 오늘날 한국 경제의 기적을 일으킨 우리 기업인들에 대한 이야기도 김정호 연세대 교수와 김진국 배재대 교수의 목소리를 통해 전달된다. 수업의 효율성을 위해 클래스는 사회과 교사와 비사회과 교사를 나누어 진행했다.

Unification will be a new growth power of co-prosperity of the world
- Huh, asking support and cooperation for unification -
The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) held '2015 Korea Night' on 23 last month at Dabos Morosani Schweizerhof Hotel in Switzerland. Under the topic of 'A Unified Korea, Infinite Possibilities', the event was participated by 500 people from 42 countries including the CEO of JP Morgan Jacob Frenkel, the CEO of Standard Chartered John Peace, the CEO of Mitsubishi Yorihiko Kojima, the CEO of Air Asia Tony F. Fernandes, the Saudi Arabia's Minister of Finance and Economy Ibrahim Al Assaf, the Deputy Head of Department of Homeland Security US, and 20 Koreans including the chairman of FKI Chang-Soo Huh, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Byeongse Yoon, and the chairman of Korea International Trade Association Duksu Han. They appealed to the participants that the unification is not about the cost but about the common good and asked participants a support.

Huh "Unification will be a new growth power of co-prosperity of the world"
The chairman of FKI Chang-Soo Huh said in his welcome speech "the unification will be a new growth power of co-prosperity of the world. Especially, the North East economic bloc covering Japan, China and Russia and Eurasia Initiative will open a new investment and business opportunity. I ask the world a support and cooperation for our unification." President Park, who said 'Unification Jackpot' in Dabos Forum last year, delivered her video message saying "we will do our best to actualize the unification in cooperation with the international society. This was followed by a keynote address by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Byeongse Yoon who explained about the visions and benefits that the unified Korea can contribute for the international society. 

Global economic bloc "Unification is a new investment opportunity and a breakthrough for Korea's economic growth"
'2015 Korea Night' catched the eyes of the participants through the 'UNIFICATION' letter structure where the participants can put their unification messages to it. The major participants including John Peace, the CEO of Standard Chartered, and Tony Fernandes, the CEO of Air Asia sent their messages. John Peace said "the unification will solve the problems of decreasing labor force, shrinkage of domestic investment, and slow growth in Korea." Tony Fernandes said "the unified Korea will have a limitless potential which will attract investments from the world."

S. Korea's Makgeolli (rice wine) and N. Korea's Baengnosul (alcohol) enchant Dabos
The event provided various Korean cuisines including Grilled Beef Salad, Sweet and Source Chicken, and Rice Wine of S. Korea, and Tainted Corn Porridge, Tofu Rice, and Baengnosul of N. Korea. The event also handed out a handkerchief made in Gaeseong Industrial Complex as a souvenir in the hope of delivering reconciliation and unification to the participants.
