Running an independent art gallery among domestic art organizations.

Boasting its 17 year history, Korean Professional Artists Association (chief director: Jeanam Shin) is a party of the artists who pursue pure art. It is the second biggest art organization after Korea Fine Arts Association in Korea. Currently, it has 4,000 members and they are participating in various events with passion and are leading the development of Korean Art. 

The association holds a yearly exhibition to promote the works of the members. Typically, they hold KPAM (Korean Professional Artist Mall Festival) and this year it will be held from 2 October to 10 October at Hangaram Art Museum. They also hold overseas exhibition every year through the invitation exhibition of Korean Cultural Center, China, and this became an opportunity to spread Korean culture and art to the world. 

The interesting fact is that the association runs an independent art gallery. This is because the chief director, vice director, advisor and secretary general as well as the members all agreed to have their own gallery when they were establishing the association, and as the result they opened 'Gallery All (director: Ghilja Park). The initial location of the gallery was in 1 Ankook-dong, Seoul, but it moved into the mecca of culture & art Insa-dong, Seoul, 4 years ago and it has been holding exhibitions throughout the year since then. The exhibitions are usually for the members due to the fact that the professional artists are constantly challenged by financial problems. They hold exhibitions throughout the year so that people can experience a variety of exhibitions and this will boost art market as well as a motivation for the artists. The association also showed their will to support the artists by introducing a system which they can run and exhibit and sell their works by themselves rather than depending on the support funds from a company. Dedicated to this independent gallery as the chief director, Park also is an artist herself who has painted for several decades and is one of the representative Korean artists. What differentiates her from other artists is the fact that she uses color as well as ink to express artistic merit, originality and contemporariness, while the traditional Korean art usually uses ink most of the time. Also noted is that she infuses stories into her works.

Alpha Color's CEO Yosook Namkoong said "Park's works are hovering between abstraction and conception, and they are the expressions of experimenting spirit, overcoming the wall of Korean painting, which gave her unique texture through new materials. The chief director of the association Jeanam Shin said "Park has a great leadership and a spirit of self sacrifice. Other artists might find an unusual air in her works and that is because she created modernistic expressive technique based on the traditional landscape painting." 

Park perplexed people with her various expressive techniques such as layout of landscape and things, the usage of materials, and her painting styles, which have not been introduced before, but her works are praised for her adventurous expressions that will lead the development of Korean art. It is only natural that her works receive positive response as her creativity is drawing change and development. Park said that she will do her utmost to run the gallery smoothly alongside her activity as an artist, and she also emphasized that the government's policy and support as well as general public's interest and understanding for professional artists are needed.
