Korean painting drawn in Korea¡¯s traditional Indian ink is globally coming as an unusual shock and deep impression for particularity of material and novelty of expressive technique. Now many Korean authors are engaging in individual work trying new and diverse expressions suiting this time and age based on this traditional technique. Park yo-ah  is one of them and she is expressing diverse expressions of this dried fish in Indian ink with a simple subject matter of Korea and rough but delicate technique.    



Part 1 

Since ancient times, croaker or dried croaker has appeared on the table of the king or ceremonial table for ancestors. It was also a gratifying stamina food for the energy of a woman in childbed. Small fish in cheaper price was a great dinner coveted by the common people for chopsticks at the table. When the reporter visited author Park yo-ah ¡¯s studio to taste such dried croaker, I was greeted in its corner by well-dried, good-looking and appetizing five or six of them in a length of one and a half span, which were contained in a bamboo basket with non-revolting salty taste and tasty fishy smell. 



Part 2

The diversity of work with the subject matter of dried croaker exhibited on one side of the studio was an amazing sight with a delicate expression to give a succession of impressions. They included the dried fish hanging on a hedgehog, contained in a basket evenly in the sun with a yellow stomach of eggs, yellowish grilled fish with a sheath, dried half fish lying in exposure of inner fishbone after being eaten, and a large-scale work of a hundred fish hanging in the sun on the tuna hook of Yeonggwang Bepsungpo. Knowing about the dried fish salted and dried in the breeze as well as the origin of the fish name, that is, giving energy, she is not just an observer and painter of them but a dried croaker author worthy of the name. It has made the reporter want to drink some water today feeling thirst from just what I have seen even without tasting the dried fish. It seems not enough for the cup of iced coffee I had during the interview.

Author Park yo-ah  was invited to 2009 Beopsungpo Danno/Dried croaker Festival with the topic of light, salt and wind. She demonstrated dried croaker in the section of <Yeonggwang Beopsungpo>, KBS Korean¡¯s table, exhibiting her work in an attempt for a draft of specific work. She talks about the triad of light, salt and wind 365 days a year portraying dried croaker. They are not easily perishable, showing a grimace as a naked salty face, lolling out its tongue, glaring as if angry or smiling softly with the mouth closed. How much I wish they should keep the salty taste in its mouth, not perishable in the breeze instead of a strong wind or typhoon and dried well enough to soothe the fastidious palate of people in the world! You have a surname of appetizer on the boiled rice, don¡¯t you?

Author Park yo-ah  is being devoted to work with patience and simple honesty as preserved in salt and dried in the sunlight, returning part of profits through a Pure Wind Fan exhibition, Sharing by Art exhibition, etc. It has been her true art for coexistence by sharing as the light and salt of the world. We wonder about how her artwork in the present progressive will mature itself.
