The Korea Magazine Association (President Baek Jong-woon) will hold “Magazine Week 2022” for 10 days from November 1 (Tue) to November 10 (Thu) to raise awareness of magazines and spread the cultural value of magazines. On August 9 (Tuesday), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the 3rd Five-Year Basic Plan for Periodical Promotion (2022-2026). In order to raise social awareness of periodicals, the association designated the period including Magazine Day (11.1.) as magazine week. This is the first time that a magazine week has been set. This year also marks the 60th anniversary of the association’s founding, so the designation of the first magazine week is more meaningful, and the magazine world is welcoming.

Running Organizing Committee and Executive Committee

Creating a turning point for industry-wide innovation

The magazine association formed the organizing committee and the executive committee to host the successful “Magazine Week 2022”, and appointed the committee members from the industry at the Korea Press Center.

Baek Jong-woon, president of the Magazine Association, said, “In the 126-year history of Korea’s first magazine, the Report of the Daejoseon Independence Association (1896), magazines have played an important role in driving awareness of the times and shaping public opinion and serving as an important source of knowledge and information. In addition, it is no exaggeration to say that magazines still convey, record, and preserve historical and cultural values by covering various issues and themes. Taking the 60th anniversary of the association and the first magazine week event as an opportunity, we will focus on improving the atmosphere and vitality of the magazine industry and preparing a turning point for innovation in the overall industry, such as digital transformation of magazine contents.”
