(PowerKorea) Economy and Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki visited the Egg Supply Center (imported eggs and supply center) and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation June 10 in an effort to check prices of agricultural and marine products. He also paid a visit to Haemil which imports monthly 20 million eggs and checked the whole process from washing to eggshell, packaging and distribution. Hong emphasized importance of stabilizing egg price which affects the consumer price immediately and pointed out that we needed fair amount of eggs until the end of June. As part of this measure, he announced to increase the the number of imported eggs to 70 million in June from the scheduled 50 million while cutting down the wholesale price to limit the price at 5,450 won ($4.5) per less than 30 eggs a box. 

Hong checks on stockpile of agricultural products

Hong paid a visit to the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation Incheon Stockpile Center which is the largest agricultural products storage in the nation. He checked thoroughly of the kind, scale and quality of the products as well as the releasing procedure with staff in charge. Hong encouraged the staff for stabilizing the price and the supply despite the fact that the price of agricultural products varies greatly season by season and time to time. He asked the staff to supply 80,000 tons of rice in a way to stabilize rice price within June while securing enough amount of onion, garlic and cabbage.
