(PowerKorea) Economy and Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki paid a visit to VentaVR on May 20 to listen to the voice of young startups. 

VentaVR is a South Korean startup specialized in 3D and VR contents producing and supplying. CEO Jeon Woo-yeol graduated from Young Startup Academy. He launched VentaVR in 2015 and has gradually increased number of talented young employees who share the same dream with him. VentaVR has now become one of the role model young startup and employment-friendly companies in South Korea.

Having finished a tour of how a 3D and VR production is made, Hong organized a Q&A session on young jobs and young startups. At the end of the meeting, Hong said that he will reflect valuable opinion he learned today for the policy directions in the latter half of the year 2021.

MEF and GCF hold 2021 P4G Green New Deal Special Session

The Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Green Climate Fund held the 2021 P4G Green New Deal Special Session on May 25. Key member nations and major international organizations participated in the session including Global Green Growth Institute president Ban Ki-moon, COP26 president Alok Sharma, Green Climate Fund executive director Yannick Glemarec who made keynote address. 

On the day, Hong presented 3 policy directions: 1) carbon neutrality 2) time of implementation 3) tools to achieve. He introduced South Korea’s Carbon Neutrality 2050, 2030 NDC direction, green infrastructure and green mobility, and pointed out importance of private-led projects. For this, he added, South Korea is creating 4 trillion won fund ($3.5 billion) and will start running Climate Change Respond Fund within 2022. Prior to the special session, Hong organized a meeting with Ban Ki-moon and Yannick Glemarec.

The Green Climate Fund is the largest international climate fund headquartered in Songdo, Incheon, South Korea. The participants of the session agreed that the Green Climate Fund should make influential voice at G20 and COP26 and strengthen its roles in international society. 

South Korea is engaged in 8 green new deal projects worth $2.3 billion at the moment and is planning to increase the number of GCF approved organizations.
