The story of finding dream and happiness in daily life
Director Lee Da-in of Lee Da In Change Management Research Center

“Grow the size of your dream”
We dreamed many when we were a child; president, scientist, doctor, etc. The dream became small and smaller as time went by and it disappeared when we became an adult. Making a lot of money has become our goal. Happiness seems to belong to a few and we doubt whether we can make it. Director Lee Da-in of Lee Da In Change Management Research Center says “Only the dreamers can put a great step forward towards the future and make their life happy. But what we need to do first is to grow the size of our dream.” She continues “Most people seem to be confused with ‘dream’ and ‘job’ that they idealize them to be the one. But there is difference between ‘job’ and ‘doing what one wants to do’. In strict terms, we want to be a doctor to heal patients and a scientist to invent things that can change the world. We want to a singer or celebrity because we might feel happy standing on the stage in a shower of applauds and respect. But the reason these achievements make one happy is because they do what they like to do but not they secured a job.” On September 15 at the Korea Press Foundation building, Lee held a publication party for her book <Lee Da In’s Live> in applauds and made a speech “All the writing process was worth taking the effort and I felt a great joy in every moment.”

“Happiness is a habit”
If you sized up your dream, you now need to change yourself for the dream. Nobody is perfect from the beginning so we have to change ourselves restlessly to grow. “People habitually say ‘I can’t help’. They think the attitude is an action of honesty and can avoid stress. But negative thinking can only leave negative emotions. So we have to say to ourselves ‘I will be better than I am now’ and love ourselves and change ourselves.” Lee calls this self-change as ‘mind change management’. The change Lee talks about is not something big or complicated but something small such as smile, eye contact and manner of speech. Systematically saying, it is the ‘change of body’, ‘change of mind’ and ‘change of mental’. Change of speech can change thought, mind and action and can improve communication skills. Lee points out that fact that modern people suffer from stress because they do not know how to be happy. “Happiness is a habit. Blessed are those who feel happy at small things for they overcome easily the stress.” Lee advises you to drink a cup of tea, have a ride or walk a trail or whatever that make you happy in your daily life for you will become generous and build good relations with others.

“Never stop dreaming”
Lee emphasizes on loving oneself, communicating with others and finding one’s happiness on daily basis. Her book <Lee Da In’s Live> contains her experience and wisdom in journey to find these daily values. “I wanted to be a celebrity when I was a high school student. I obtained a barista certificate for I liked coffee very much after high school. I then obtained a certificate for real estate auction analyst and my interest and passion in various fields still keep me go for challenge. Of course I suffered from many failures but then I realized that my dream come true if I want it really hard and work hard. Many successful people seem to have the same stories and advices: never give up, do not afraid of change, etc. But behind of these chants lies their hard work and endless try.” Lee once was diagnosed with an incurable disease when she was a child. Today, she stands on the platform in front of her audience to deliver the message of ‘never give up’ and ‘change yourself’. “Dreaming a dream is very important and meaningful. The process of making the dream come true itself can make our life rich and happy. And achieving a dream leads to another dream and it is a cycle of habit; a dream bears a habit and the habit a future.” If you think you are one of those who wish to fulfill a dream and change yourself, you are highly advised to read her book or listen to her lecture.
