Kang inaugurated as minister
Kang Eun-hee was inaugurated as new Minister of Gender Equality and Family. As her first official move, she paid a visit to 3 branches of Saeil Center in Gimpo Employment & Welfare Plus Center, Seoul Bukbu, and Seoul Joong-gu. The role of the center is to give career and job support for women. She listened carefully to the staff and job seekers to reflect their opinions to policies while visiting each center. Kang herself served as CEO of a company while being a mother of two children. With this experience in mind, she plans to introduce practical policies to working mums. In a policy meeting, the attendees and the officials exchanged their stories about what cut their career and the difficulties to make a comeback to work as well as what needs to be done to improve the situation with Kang. Saeil Center is opened its door to give related services from consulting, training, job support to after management for women and 147 centers are run nationwide at the moment. Kang said "Using dormant female power in our society is to raise national competitiveness and to create an equal and better society. We will provide our unsparing effort for women to participate in more economic activities with a quality job so that they can keep carrying on their dream." Kang added "I think the government policies must reflect the reality and we will give meticulous researches and methods to introduce practical policies."

Kang to expand Women Friendly City to 66
Kang appointed 11 new local governments as Women Friendly City and it will be 66 cities in total if 6 cities are reappointed soon after. The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family signed an agreement with 17 local governments on 22 last month and awarded prizes for 3 excellent public institutions. 200 people including officials, members of female organizations and local residents attended the ceremony and signing, delivering a plaque and presentation of related plans were carried out by each local government. Women Friendly City first started with Iksan in 2009, awarded a plaque after a thorough screening for local government's plan, and renews the title every 5 years. Appointed cities must introduce or carry out women-friendly policies, education, welfare, job creation, projects and community services. Kang said "Creating more Women Friendly City are very important as it is directly connected to equal opportunity and policies in our society. And this can only be achieved with the support and cooperation with public institutions, residents and companies. As for our part, we will provide utmost effort in bringing this project to a reality over just a word."
