박근혜 대통령, 한국로타리 대표단과 간담회
박근혜 대통령이 대표적인 민간봉사 단체인 ‘한국로타리’ 대표단 25명을 청와대로 초청해 간담회를 가졌다. 한국로타리는 ‘초아의 봉사’라는 신념아래 의료봉사, 장학사업, 취약계층 지원을 해오고 있다.
지난달 9일 청와대에 초청받은 권영성 한국로타리 총재단 의장은 “오늘 한국로타리 총재단 일행을 초청해 주신 박근혜 대통령님께 감사를 드립니다.”라며 소감을 밝혔다. 덧붙여 부정부패 척결과 정치개혁, 사회개혁을 통해 깨끗한 나라를 건립하겠다는 박근혜 대통령의 강력한 의지에 적극 공감하며 회원들과 함께 동참하겠다는 의사를 밝혔다. 이어 박 대통령은 모두 말씀을 통해 오늘 간담회를 통해 정치개혁과 사회개혁에 대한 전 국민적인 동참과 협조를 거듭 강조하며 한국 로타리 대표단에게 정치 및 사회개혁을 비롯해 경제살리기와 일자리 창출, 국민통합에 기여해 줄 것을 당부했다.

박 대통령은 브라질을 비롯한 중남미 4개국이 우리나라가 전란으로 인해 황폐했을 때에 선진국 대열에 올랐던 나라였음에도 불구하고, 지금은 오히려 대한민국의 발전모델을 배우려하고 있다는 사실을 전했다. 더불어 각국에서 성공적인 이민사를 써가고 있던 우리 동포들에 대한 이야기도 전했다.
박 대통령은 이와 같은 우리나라의 발전은 오늘 참석한 로타리 클럽 회원들과 같이 높은 도덕성과 철저한 직업윤리를 가지고 헌신한 우리의 아버지, 어머니들이 계셨기 때문에 가능했다고 생각한다고 밝혔다. 더불어 다음 달에 브라질 상파울루에서 열리는 로타리 국제대회에서 우리나라의 위상과 우리 동포들의 노력을 활용할 수 있는 좋은 계기가 되기를 기대한다고 말했다.

박근혜 대통령과 어린이들의 ‘꿈 나들이’ 현장으로!
이에 앞선 5월 5일 어린이날을 맞아 특별한 손님들이 청와대를 찾았다. 어려운 여건 속에서도 꿈과 재능을 키워나가고 있는 전국 도서벽지 어린이 170명이 바로 그 주인공이다. 박근혜 대통령은 행사가 열리는 청와대 녹지원에 아이들의 손을 꼭 잡고 입장했다. 박근혜 대통령을 실제로 처음 만난 아이들은 시종일관 환한 미소와 함께 가까이서 보는 대통령의 모습에 신기한 듯 눈길을 떼지 못했다.
박 대통령은 아이들과 함께 둘러앉아 “오늘 어린이날을 맞이해 날씨도 화창한 가운데 어린이들의 해맑은 모습을 보니 우리나라의 밝은 미래를 보는 것 같아서 마음이 기쁘고 즐겁습니다.”라고 말하며 한 명 한 명 애정을 담아 둘러보았다. 특히 박 대통령은 “오늘 모인 어린이 중에는 멀리 섬에서 온 어린이도 있고 또 땅끝마을에서 온 친구도 있다고 들었어요.”라며 멀리서 온 아이들이 힘들지는 않았는지 세심하게 챙기기도 했다.

박 대통령의 환영인사에 이어 충남 보령 광명초등학교에서 온 학생들이 박근혜 대통령에게 축하 선물로 ‘오카리나’ 합주를 선보였다. 아름다운 선율이 녹지원에 울려퍼지자 박 대통령을 비롯해 오늘 행사에 참석한 아이들도 오카리나 연주에 빠져들었다. 이어 ‘모든 아이들은 서로 다른 종류의 꽃들이다’라는 이야기를 들었다며, 어린이들도 각자 갖고 있는 꿈, 끼, 개성이나 소질들이 모두 다른 만큼 각자가 가진 재능을 잘 살려 같이 어우러질 때에 우리 사회도 더 행복하고 아름다워질 것이라고 언급했다. 더불어 ‘꿈’을 내 마음의 밭에 씨앗을 심는 것에 비유한 박 대통령은 봄에 씨를 뿌려야 가을에 결실을 걷을 수 있다며 마음 속에 꿈을 품는다는 것이 굉장히 중요하다고 강조했다.

또한 자신이 가진 독특한 소질과 끼를 바탕으로 자신이 좋아하는 일을 열심히 해 발전시키는 사람이 우리 사회에서 성공할 가능성이 크다고 말했다. 박 대통령은 어린이들이 각자 갖고 있는 소중한 꿈을 펼칠 수 있는 나라가 좋은 나라라고 생각한다고 밝히고, 아이들의 꿈이 실현되는 좋은 나라를 만들기 위해 노력과 정성을 다하겠다고 어린이들에게 약속했다.

Park, holding a meeting with representatives of Rotary Korea 
President Park invited 25 representatives of a renowned private service group Rotary Korea (RK) to the Blue House on 9 last month. With its slogan 'Service Above Self', RK carries out services in medicine and scholarship for underprivileged. The Chairman of RK Gwon Young-sung showed his gratitude to Park for her kind invitation and said that the members of RK will support Park's strong will to create a healthier nation through eradicating corruption and political & social reform. Park in response emphasized on working together to build a cleaner society and asked RK to take an active role to promote national economy and to create jobs. Park said that 4 countries of Latin America including Brazil used to be more developed nations than us around the Korean War but they are now taking us as their development model and also many Koreans living abroad are making a new history. Park added that the Korea's economical miracle was possible thanks to those who devoted themselves to national development like the members of RK. Park also asked RK to raise Korea's status and excellence at the Rotary International which will be held at São Paulo, Brazil. 

Park, inviting children to Blue House
President Park invited 170 children from islands and isolated areas nationwide on the occasion of May 5 Children's Day. Park entered the Green Garden of Blue House hand in hand with the children who were curious and amazed at seeing the president in a close distance. Park sat round with the children and said "I am really pleased to meet you as I feel like I'm seeing the bright future of Korea. I heard some of you come from far islands and some from isolated areas and I'm really grateful to meet you all." The children from Gwangmyeong Elementary School in Boryeong played ocarina ensemble for Park as a gift and everybody fell in love with the melodies of the instrument and became sentimental. Park compared dream to seed which bears fruit in Autumn and said "children are flowers which have their own uniqueness. If you use your own talent and try hard to make your dream come true, you can not only make a big success in life but we can together build a happier and more beautiful society." Park added that a good society means that children can realize their dream and we will do our best to provide ideal environments for your dream to be fulfilled and to make a better society."
