To capture the modern sense of beauty on the Korean traditionality

Artist Hwang, In-Heh has been a painter approximately for 40 years. Meanwhile, she has been faithful to the traditional landscape painting techniques and even to a semi-abstract painting actively embraced picturesque painting technique, through which she has been looking for better ways with free expression techniques that crosses that border on which Korean painting should go forward. There is consistently a sympathetic nostalgia about past time in her works, which can stimulate the viewer's strong sensitivity. Maybe the tasks having been connected, enduring a life of long-suffering, has been the time recording things which have never been forgotten in this terrific fast-paced era. Internalized immeasurable depth of her work world has never been at a standstill at even one moment for half a century. We met artist Hwang, In-Heh look and look into her brilliant art world who has been making the possibility of future, not the glory of the past, with experimenting spirit competitive young artists.

To show talent inherited from parents

Artist Hwang, In-Heh spent her childhood with naturally rich benefits as nutritious elements in a small village near Daegu. Her father was a well-known artist of paintings and calligraphic works as an authority in this field, and the basis for calligraphy which she learned from an early age has been the roots supporting the artist's art world even up to now. Artist Hwang In-Heh who grew, being influenced by her father being good at calligraphy, art, and the poem, had naturally the artist's life dream and was admitted to art college, Seoul National University art college. "I had grown, receiving a lot of inspiration in the arts and humanities family atmosphere. The time, thanks to my talent inherited from my parents, made me what I am, I think." Artist wang In-Heh who began to show her talent from 1970s opened her 29 private exhibitions in total such as Kunsthaus Nexus Center Gallery, Korea Culture Center in Paris, Yonsei University Museum, Fine Arts Center Literary Agency, and  she has been participating in national and international 21 art fairs in total such as in Budapest Art Expo, Sydney, New York, Zurich, Shanghai, Beijing, KIAF, SOAF, MANIF etc.

Her outstanding awards embroidered her strong journey such as special selected prize at Art Exhibition Center, new art exhibition newcomer prize(Tokyo), bronze medal at Tokyo AAI Art Exhibition (San Francisco), the grand prize at Namsong International Art Show. Her works completed with a unique view of the world with the coexistence in the East and the West, through the past and present, and were housed in the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Berlin Museum of Technology, Yonsei University Museum, Nam Song Art Center, Morocco Museum of Modern Art, Burunayi Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Netherland, through which her works lead to the support transcending borders and generations. Artist Hwang, In-Heh who dedicated her youth for the only painting for the past 40 years like that, continues to be a dynamic moves as Seocho Art Association's advisor, and as a member of Korea Art Association, Korean Painting Women Association, Korean paintings association,  HANWOOL Exhibition, expanding her capacity both inside and outside of the current art circle.

Experimental work world based on traditionality?

Artist Hwang, In-Heh painted a landscape taken from the life in the early stage of her entering the art circle. But from the 1980s, when she began to be well-known as a painter in earnest she created the results of research on semi-abstract under the title of

"visuo-sensory space."  "The brilliant hues of blue sky from a distance through leaves,

I drew a picture with the inspiration and the color to be thought to me, suit for my color, not as it is. It was the time when I realized the aesthetics of joke, line, and space, which is considered to be the most important thing in oriental painting. Getting into the 1990s, her works world was facing a great time of change. Her skills was great enough to be selected in the field of calligraphy of National Art, but she be absorbed in her work that letters, figures, abstract landscapes were placing in a variety of split screen rather than sticking to the technique of the character itself. "Nature is the greatest gift the Creator  created, and the character is the most superior human invented culture's civilization, which I wanted to implement all of them on the canvas." After that she created <Knot>series which was made out of the traditional Hanji, traditional Korean paper twisted with handmade from mulberry trees, and the series of The Endless Love. It is the part of the series of <Hangul Abstract -????´Ù¶ó> started in 1994. With abstract work of this point, line, surface of Hangul, she is collectively approaching without distinguishing people, landscape, abstract. In particular, recent work <The Moonlight> series while taking advantage of the characteristics of Hanji, she showed the worldwide as well as Korean unique works with the proper use of ink and charcoal, stone dust, paint, and appropriate use of the East and the West paints. It is getting a good response from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, the United States and Australia, which is very encouraging. Artist Hwang In-Heh dedicated her life to, with the artistic experimentation, maximizing Korean beauty, traditionality, nostalgia, characterization and painting character. We wish she would remain for a long time as  a good example for young artists and the hope of fine art on the verge of the question of maintenance or abolition in ROK.
