Dolls were always lovely objects at store in our memories to wait for their each owner. Toy industry is a fruit of memory to give us the joy and the meaning of ¡®parental love¡¯, since the prehistoric age where parents made their kids¡¯ toys with animals¡¯ bones and hairs. It is known as the industry regardless of the economic crisis, but in the early 1990¡¯s, Korea was losing the competiveness due to expensive labor costs and raw materials compared to China and South East in Asia. Therefore, it affected the toy industry and back then, AURORA Trade Corporation, which was the company to take the order with the OEM system at that time from other overseas countries in 1981, was also standing at the crossroad. However, the founder, President Noh, Hee-Yeol who established the company thought that it would be alright without facing the moment again, if they had their own brand. Eventually, he prepared for the second leap with that idea. In the early 1990¡¯s, he opened the manufacturing factory Corporation in China and Indonesia, settled down the sale corporation in the state in 1992 and finally started producing stuffed toys tagged of ¡®AURORA¡¯. It was their first brand and built up the design lab in 1999. Vice-President Lee, Young-Jin explained, ¡°In the beginning, stuffed toy, which is called a plush toy, was driving force to grow this company and they were sold over 50,000,000 per year. AURORA WORLD has lots of know-how about animal and cute characteristic plush toys. And we have been pioneering to attack the global market with our own brand in this toy industry as a leader. At first, we brought dolls as some samples of ours to the sates and met buyers and then slowly tried to make our zone there to let them know about us. When designing a product, we always take the culture, trend and local emotions throughout the local corporation¡¯s research.¡± AURORA WORLD has been growing every year and so, it became an example of success as the leading global brand and a legend of operating in the black in the toy industry in Korea. The 85% of the entire products is their own brand and they are combining with the national and international character licensing such as ¡®My Little Pony¡¯, ¡®Garfield¡¯, and ¡®Robocar Poli¡¯ etc. besides, AURORA WORLD made a record of being top 5 of recognition of gift brand in the US and put their name on the list of KOSDAQ for the first time in the field in the 2000¡¯s. History of ¡®YooHoo & Friend¡¯, its birth and the success  


Vice-President Lee talked about that they are on process of ¡®VISION 2020¡¯ in order to be reborn to be the top character contents company in the world. ¡°In the past, toys were major but from now, the character contents business will dominate the field. So, with that basis, we would like to grow the growth plate and profits more.¡± Vice-President Lee addressed, ¡°As for Disney, they have been developing many characters based with their ultimate capability for the animation production in terms of producing, distrusting and other merchandising in variety. In contrast, AURORA WORLD is based on the stuffed toys and character design and seeking for the profit via the contents business by developing main characters such as ¡®YooHoo & Friend¡¯. Especially, it can minimize the risk of the investment out of the synergy with the most important item, toys on the licensing business. From that constant strategic marketing, I have a plan to raise ¡®YooHoo & Friend¡¯ to represent AURORA WORLD like ¡®Kitty¡¯ of SANRIO Company in Japan.¡± ¡®YooHoo & Friend¡¯ is an adventure story for kids, which YooHoo and his 4 friends are trying to protect the tree of life and they are living in ¡®GREENIT¡¯ that is just like NEVERLAND of Peter Pan story. They launched season 1 and 2 that were reflected by foreign customers¡¯ emotions and favorites and will go to the world market with expanding the contents such as toys based on the animation, licensing with the relevant projects. Main characters of ¡®YooHoo & Friend¡¯ came from rare animals that are in danger of extinction caused from the environmental pollution in the background of the world heritage appointed by UNESCO. Season 1 has been aired on KBS for 52 times with 11 minute-running time and was nominated at the world market in the US and the UK. Also, it has imported to 40 countries like the UK, Russia, Australia and South America etc. There was a strategic licensing step of the characters. Children can watch ¡®YooHoo & Friend¡¯ via the media business like TV, some live shows using the characters and licensing later, the indoor theme park and kids caf? such as an entertainment field. Products about ¡®YooHoo & Friend¡¯ made a record to be sold 34,000,000 until 2013 since 2007 world-widely and these are the first characters that were decorating the windows during Christmas holiday at the best toy department store, Hamleys,, which is boasting off their 250-year of history in the UK. Besides, ¡®YooHoo & Friend¡¯ officially set up the store at the Royal Department Store of the UK, Harrods. Other than that, ¡®YooHoo & Friend¡¯ was picked up for the European Happy Meal Promotion and it was really meaningful as the global character in last spring, 2013. Thank to that, these characters have been at about 6,000 stores in the 40 countries and being on a roll.

AURORA WORLD¡¯s business areas are divided into the toys and contents business. As for the toy business have a very close connection with 4 elements. First of all, the process includes the global merchandising development team in headquarter, the R&D center of each sale corporation and running the showroom in some core marketing locations as the market insight. And, finally, the MD& Design that is completing the most favorite sample characters out of making them in graphics. When finishing manufacturing for the global market at the first and second factories in China and Indonesia, and they are sent to the toy stores to the world including the US. Normally, the children¡¯s most favorite, EBS is sending many character items on advertisement between regular programs and so, it makes customers to purchase it naturally.
