한강의 기적은 우리 손으로 달성한 것이기도 하지만 1950년 한국전쟁 당시 UN참전국21개과 46개 물자지원국 및 전후복구국이 없었더라면 불가능한 일이었을지도 모른다. 대한민국의 자유 수호와 지금의 경제 번영에 이들의 도움이 결정적 역할을 했음은 주지의 사실이다. 그로부터 62년. 지원을 받던 나라에서 지원을 해주는 나라로 위상이 커진 지금, UN참전국들의 고마움을 잊지 않고 그 도움을 다시 지구촌과 나누는 단체가 있다. 김성걸 이사장이 이끄는 탱큐21문화교류협회(www.thankyou21.net)가 바로 그것이다.

받았던 도움, 이제 지구촌 전체로 돌려줄 때 

탱큐21문화교류협회는 한국전쟁 참전 21개국에 대한 감사와 보은의 뜻을 새기며, 세계 평화와 화합을 도모하기 위해 만들어진 단체다. 그 이름부터 21개국에 대한 감사의 뜻을 담고 있다. 

가장 중점적인 사업은 21개 참전국들과 문화·예술·봉사 등 다양한 분야에서의 민간교류다. 국내외 수많은 사회복지 단체, 비영리 단체를 후원하고 도움이 필요한 곳에는 언제든지 달려가 봉사활동으로 지원하고, 참전용사의 후손들에게는 장학사업을 전개한다. 민간교류 차원을 넘어서 국위선양의 역할까지 수행하고 있는 것이다. 

특히 전후 세대들에게는 전쟁의 실상과 평화의 소중함을 알리고 글로벌 코리아의 발전된 모습과 미래의 비전을 홍보하는 기능도 하고 있다. 청소년 문화교류 포럼, 학술 세미나, 문화제 차세대리더들의 양성 등이 그 일환이다. 

한국전쟁을 기리는 단체라고 해서 보수적이라거나 시대에 맞지 않는 단체라고 속단해서는 곤란하다. 지난 2010년8월8일 6.26전쟁 60주년을 기리기 위해 탱큐21 주최로 인천 송도 컨벤시아 전시관에서 열렸던 ‘Thankyou21 문화교류 대축전’은 세계평화와 화합을 도모하는 장으로서 호평을 받았다. ‘섬머 Dj 페스티벌’이라는 부제로 Peace Music Festival, World Best DJ Party, World Culture & Food Festival 등 다양한 행사로 꾸며졌는데 MCBitz, FFAN, kingMck, BlasteR, YB, 부활, DJ DOC, 바비킴, 백지영, 성시경 등 유명 뮤지션들이 총출동하면서 화제가되었고, 출연진과 참가한 1800여명의 인사등 모두가 단체의출범에 공감하면서 출범하였다.

“우리나라는 빠르게 성장해서 지금 선진국의 반열에 들어섰습니다. 당시 도움을 받았던 나라에 그 이상의 답례를 하는 것이 도리입니다. 그리하여 우리나라를 의리 있는 나라, 은혜를 갚는 나라로 인식한다면 국가 위상이 올라갈 것 입니다. 정부가 UN등을 통해 경제적 도움을 베푼다면 저희는 문화 교류를 통해 나눔을 전하며 지식과 정보를 공유하는 것입니다.” 국가 간에도 보은(報恩)문화를 형성해야 한다는 역설이다. 

탱큐21문화교류협회에는 강영훈 전 국무총리, 장경순 전 국회부의장, 김학수 전 UN사무차장겸UN ESCAP사무총장, 임덕규 디프로메시회장, 최기선이사장, 이민재변호사,등 사회지도층인사들이 고문으로 활동 중이며 터키, 미국, 영국 등의 국내외 각계 인사들이 자문위원으로 참여하고 있다. 또한 수석부회장으로 활동 중인 국제지도자연합은 태권도로 한국을 빛낸 이준구 총재가 세계 각국의 지도자들과 교류하기 위해 만든 단체다. 또한, 한국전쟁에서 아들과 함께 참전했다가 전사한 월튼 해리스 워커 장군의 추모를 기리는 (사)한미워커대장 추모기념사업회 회장도 맡는 등 뛰어난 추진력으로 전방위 활동을 펼치고 있는 것이다.

몽골 농업단지 구축으로 식량문제 해결

지난 2011년에는 국가 식량자원 확보를 위한 동(東)몽골 농업개발사업도 시작했다. 쌀을 제외한 곡물의 94%, 연간 1,500만 톤 이상의 식량을 수입하는 우리나라의 현 상황, 곧 도래할 식량전쟁의 어려움을 타개하고자 정부와 민간이 함께 하는 해외 농업토지 확대사업이다. 여의도 면적의 약 100배 이상 규모에 달하는 동몽골의 토지(3만헥타)를 100년 동안 해외 농업경제특구를 건설해 농업사업을 할 수 있도록 임차계약을 마쳤다.

사업단준비위 부위원장인 그는 이 과정에서도 6.25한국전쟁의UN참전21개국참전용사들의 후손들에게 우리의 선진화된 기계화 영농기술과 새마을운동을 가르쳐 농사를 짓도록 하겠다는 것이다. 그들에게 일자리를 제공하고 기술을 연마시켜, 농업분야의 지도자로 양성해 상생의 나눔이 실현될 것이라며 의욕과 실천을 불태우고 있다. 

출토피아(10021운동)의 전개

“진(진실), 미(아름다움), 애(사랑) 정신이 중요한 시대입니다. 진실하면 마음이 아름다워 지고, 그러면 모든 이들과 사랑을 나누게 됩니다.” 진리는 하나이기에 진, 미, 애의 실천운동운동인 출토피아(True+Utopia)는 (워싱턴의 이준구 총재가 창시) 땡큐21의 회원들과 각종 라인을 통해 현재 전 세계에 모범, 실천운동으로 전개하고 있으며, 출토피아(10021운동)의 실천은 인류의 보편적 가치이자, 삶의 목표인 행복에 도달하게 된다는 김성걸 이사장의 굳건한 믿음과 실천이 지구촌 곳곳으로 퍼져 나가는 중이다. 

We achieved "the miracle of the Han River" through our own efforts. However, if it had not been for the UN troops of 21 combatant nations  and 46 nations supporting material during the Korean war in 1950, and the nations rehabilitating Korea, it might not have been impossible. It is a matter of common knowledge that they had a decisive role in the protection of freedom of the Republic of Korea and a prosperous economy now. Now 62 years after that, the aid receiving country, Korea, has grown to aid giving country. So Korea's national prestige has soared. There's an association that  

is sharing that aid with the global village, still remembering the gratitude of UN combatant nations. Thank you Cultural Exchange Association (www.thankyou21.net) is the very organization that the chief director Kim Sungkul is leading. 

Time to Repay the Aid to the Global Village 

Thank You 21 Cultural Exchange Association is the organization founded in order to promote world peace and harmony, keeping the meaning of gratitude and returning thanks in our minds for 21 countries that had participated in Korean War. The name of "Thank you Cultural Exchange Association" contains the meaning of gratitude for 21 nations.

The most focal project is the non-governmental interchange of culture, arts, and services with 21 combatant nations. Thank You 21 Cultural Exchange Association patronizes a lot of social welfare associations and nonprofit organizations, will come running to the place where help is needed and   supports with volunteer work. The organization conducts learn-fare business to descendants of veterans of the Korean War. Over non-governmental interchange do they play a part of enhancing national glory. Especially, it functions to introduce the state of war and the importance of peace, and to publicize the development and future's vision of Korea to post-war generations, etc and it is doing  as follows: the forum on cultural exchange of adolescents, scholarship seminars, cultivating next generation leaders of cultural festivals.   

We should not hastily conclude that the organizations are conservative or anachronistic because they remember the Korean War. "Thank You 21 Cultural Exchange Festival" held at the exhibition center of Songdo Convensia, Incheon in order to remember the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War on October 2008 was received great views as a place for promoting world peace and harmony. Its subtitle, "Summer Dj Festival", was composed of various events as follows: Peace Music Festival, World DJ Party, World Culture & Foof Festival, etc, in which MCBitz, FFAN, kingMCK, BlasterR, TB, DJ DOC, Boby kim, Baek jiyoung, Seong sigyoung, etc the famous musicians were all mobilized, which became the talk of the town. All members of the cast and 1,800 people participating in the event are in sympathy with starting the organization.

"The Republic of Korea joined the ranks of advanced countries in a short period of time through the rapidity of economic growth. It would behoove us to give more aid to the counties that had given it to us. The national prestige will grow up if they understand Korea as the nation that is faithful and will return the favor. Where our government is generous in giving economic aid through UN, Thank You 21 Cultural Exchange Association shares knowledge and information through cultural exchange."

It is being emphasized that the culture of returning thanks for favors received between counties

In the Thank You 21 Cultural Exchange Association do the figures in the leadership work as advisors: former Prime Minister Kang Younghoon, former vice-speaker Jang Gyoungsoon, former UN undersecretary general & ESCAP general secretary Kim Haksoo, chairman of Diplomacy Lim Deokgyou, chief director Lee Gisun, lawyer Lee Minjae, etc. Many influential figures of Turkey, US, and England from each field at home and abroad are participating as consultants. In oder to exchange with leaders of all the countries of the world, International Leaders Association is the organization made by chairman Lee Joongu, who has enhanced national prestige, and he is the head of vice-chairpersons of our organization. And he, who is doing omnidirectional activities with his excellent best driving force, is the chairperson of the Korean-American General Walker Memorial Association, which was founded in memory of Walton Harris Walker who took part in the Korean War with his son, and died.  

Solving Food Problem by building Agriculture Complex in Mongolia

We started agricultural development business in eastern Mongolia in 2011 in order to obtain food resources of Korea, which now imports 94%, over 15 million tons, of all kinds of grains a year except rice. This is the overseas agricultural land expansion project by government together with private people for overcoming the difficulty of the imminent food war. We made a lease contract with Mongolia of 30 thousand hectares, which is one hundred times of Yeouido area, of east Mongolian land so as to construct the special agricultural economic zone and carry on agricultural business for one hundred years. 

The Vice director Lee of preparatory committee of the agency has the plan to teach our advanced and mechanized agricultural skills and new village movement to descendants of the Korean war veterans of UN 21 countries, and make them do farm work. He is highly motivated to offer them jobs, polish up their skills, train them to be leaders in agricultural field, which he is practicing, and he says that this kind of a win-win project of sharing will be realized. 

Campaigning Chultopia (10021 Movement)

"This is the time when the spirit of truth, beauty, and love is important". When you are sincere, you  are becoming such a beautiful person, and you can share love with everybody". Truth is one, and the practicing movement (True + Utopia) of truth, beauty, and love is being campaigned as a model and practicing movement with the members of Chultopia (founded in Washington: Chairperson Lee Joongu) through various lines around the world. To practice Chultopia (10021 Movement) is the universal values of mankind, and arrives at happiness the goal of life. This iron will, belief, and practicing the movement by chief director Kim Sungkul is spreading around the global village
