The Ninth Trilateral Summit Meeting among the Republic of Korea, Japan and the People’s Republic of China Welcome Dinner and Joint Declaration of the 9th Korea-Japan-China, Trilateral Summit

Yoon welcomed and had dinner with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida and Chinese Premier Li Chang, who attended The Ninth Trilateral Summit Meeting among the Republic of Korea, Japan and the People’s Republic of China held in Seoul on May 26. The welcome dinner was an opportunity to harmoniously showcase the cultural commonalities of the three countries, which have a long history of mutual exchange, and the individuality of each country that has blossomed based on this. At the banquet hall, works created through interaction between ceramic artists from the three countries with over 20 years of experience were displayed, and there were performances by a multicultural children's choir composed of performers from the three countries, a traditional instrument ensemble, and a modern music band. A choir consisting of 21 members from three countries sang representative folk songs from Japan and China celebrating the encounter of a beautiful spring day. Participants recalled that this year marks the 25th anniversary of trilateral cooperation, and noted that the eight trilateral summits held since 2008 and the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat established in 2011 have laid a solid foundation for the institutionalization of trilateral cooperation.

They reaffirmed their commitment to implement the ‘Vision for Trilateral Cooperation for the Next 10 Years’ adopted at the 8th Summit. They reaffirmed their commitment to the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, the rule of law, and an international order based on international law, and agreed on the importance of complying with international law and commitments in agreements between states. They agreed that they would strive to institutionalize trilateral cooperation through regular meetings and ensure that the people can enjoy the practical benefits of trilateral cooperation. They are actively exploring mutually beneficial cooperation projects focusing on six major areas: ∼people-to-people exchanges, ∼climate change response and sustainable development, ∼economy and trade, ∼health and aging, ∼science and technology and digital transformation, and ∼disaster relief and safety.
