Choo discusses economic security cooperation and trade issues with high-level EU officials

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Choo Kyung-ho met with European Commission Senior Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis at the Seoul Government Complex on November 1 to discuss ways to cooperate between the two countries, including supply chain, economic security, and carbon border adjustment system. Choo said that Korea and the EU celebrated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and that trade was at the largest scale ever, and welcomed the official start of negotiations for the Korea-EU Digital Trade Agreement on October 31. Dombrovskis evaluated the performance of the 11 years since the Korea-EU FTA took effect and said that Korea's position would be considered in the future EU legislation and system operation process. The government plans to closely advance discussions to minimize the burden on Korean companies in various environmental and trade legislative processes promoted by the EU.

Lottery Committee makes kimchi for low-income and underprivileged people

Kim Wan-seop, Second Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, conducted a kimchi-making event for people in need at a welfare center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul on October 31. This event was designed to deliver kimchi to low-income and underprivileged people and to practice the spirit of donation and sharing of the lottery fund. About 120 people attended the event, and about 1,500 heads of kimchi (3,000 kg of pickled cabbage) were delivered directly to low-income and underprivileged households. Kim said, “The meaning of kimchi is ‘sharing.’ We hope that the kimchi we carefully made will be of some help to low-income and underprivileged residents to get through the winter.”
