Reading a shaman or tarot card to relieve life’s worries and future anxieties has become popular among Gen MZ. Attention is thus being paid to a cafe where they can have hands-on tarot reading as well as training and opening up a business if they wish. Run by the Korea Practical Culture Studies, Cafe De Life View offers tarot reading and saju, the four pillars of destiny. You can have a cup of coffee or tea while enjoying saju and tarot. If you wish, you can also take a course to open up your own business. The cozy interior is homey, and the house-made Aurora Salted Cream Latte is a favorite. There’s an Americano, a sweet and refreshing chamomile relaxer, and a plum mojito made with plum juice and ground peppermint, as well as savory salt bread, a crisp and moist financier, and muffins and Mont Blancs. You can draw a tarot from a tabletop tarot deck to see your fortune for the day, and by appointment, you can get career, job, and marriage advice from expert Yunsang Go, CEO of the cafe and also the director of the Korea Practical Culture Studies. He says “I strive to help people in their 20s and 30s who have difficulty adapting to society by identifying their personality, aptitude, and psychological state, helping them understand how to form social relationships and suggesting a more developmental life direction.”
Fostering saju counselors
Offering a new concept cafe with saju and tarot reading
Here at Cafe De Life View, saju training is provided by professional consultants who have a degree in continuing education or counseling psychology from a university or graduate school. Upon completion of the course, you will be certified as a saju counselor, and you will be able to pursue a career in one of the many partner counseling centers. If you’re a small business owner, you can set up a shop-in-shop in your existing business or change your business to a specialized counseling cafe. Go is also a professor of saju and tarot counseling at a continuing education center of a university.
He says “As a discipline that solves life’s problems in a humanized way, saju is the result of two thousand years of experience and methods woven together like threads and strings to build its own scientific knowledge system. I hope that saju and tarot will guide people to choose the life wisdom whenever they face difficulties, and that the cafe will be used as a space for modern people to design a happy life. The cafe and the Studies I run are not only connected to saju and tarot, but also to human beings, philosophy, counseling psychology, and communication, and I will develop the cafe into a place to educate and experience them.”
