Korea Polytechnic Asan won the Grand Prize in the ICT Convergence Education category for the second consecutive year at the 2023 18th Korea Culture Management Awards held last month. The ICT Innovation Square expansion project, which will train more than 30,000 AI-SW core talents, is headed for the second half of 2023. And Korea Polytechnic Asan, Chungnam Center for ICT Complex in Chungcheongbuk-do, won the unanimous award for successfully leading a customized training program for the convergence of specialized industries and ICT technologies in the Chungcheong region.

Yongmok Kim, Dean of Korea Polytechnic Asan, says “onsite training is our strength”

In his acceptance speech, Kim said, “We are very grateful to have won the Grand Prize in the ICT Convergence Education category for the second consecutive year. Nowadays, many are struggling with unemployment and job problems, and we will do our best to contribute to job creation. Korea’s fertility rate remains at 0.18%, which is causing concern. As a result, educational institutions from daycare centers to universities are facing a crisis. There is a mismatch between young people wanting jobs and companies wanting labor. Some small and medium-sized enterprises can’t even run their factories without bringing in labor from abroad. If parents think about their children’s aptitudes, thoughts, and desired direction together, we can get out of this mismatch. I think Korea Polytechnic Asan, which provides on-site customized education, is a good alternative. I think the judges appreciated our AI-centric curriculum that fits the specialization project in the Chungcheong region, the training of human resources in smart factories, software development, creation of AI manufacturing process systems, and 3D simulation automation. Going forward, we promise to continue to foster talent for the core technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, including big data, blockchain, AI, and VR.”

Korea Polytechnic Asan is a center for ICT training

Korea Polytechnic Asan operates a curriculum that focuses on improving the selection of trainees and growing advanced digital talent through midterm assessments. A school official said, “Korea Polytechnic Asan has been busy conducting customized education programs for the convergence of specialized industries and ICT technologies in the Chungcheong region. In particular, this year, we were able to focus on fostering human resources in the field of smart factories that will be the main players in the actual industrial field by conducting AI, blockchain, data, and IoT education together.” You can check the ICT Innovation Square expansion project in 2023 by going to the Chungcheong ICT Innovation Square website and registering. Uisun Choi, Director of Korea Polytechnic Asan Industry Academic Cooperation said “We have been marching every year by utilizing advanced information and communication technologies, and in particular, we have been preparing for the new environment by building real-time online education.

We have contributed to the provision of optimal AI composite education to foster human resources related to new technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain since the beginning of the diffusion project. As a consortium in the Chungcheong-do region, we have focused on fostering AI talent. It is very encouraging that we have reached a point where we can improve competitiveness in the field of convergence ICT technologies such as AI and blockchain and expect results in recruiting AI experts. We will use the 2023 expansion project as a stepping stone to make further progress.”
