KOTRA held the ‘2023 KOREA-ASEAN Maritime Week’ in Bali, Indonesia, the chair country of ASEAN this year, in collaboration with the Busan Marine Equipment Association and the Korea-Indonesia Maritime Plant Cooperation Center for two days from the 26th of last month. This is to support Korean shipbuilding and offshore plant companies entering the ASEAN market.

In this project, KOTRA supported about 50 promising Korean companies entering the ASEAN market through ﹦one-on-one business consultations ﹦new technology and product exhibitions ﹦project seminars and ﹦online follow-up consultations.

About 70 overseas companies participated and discussed ﹦procurement of high-quality Korean shipbuilding equipment ﹦cooperation with next-generation shipbuilding technologies such as ESG and carbon-saving green ships ﹦development of shipbuilding and marine infrastructure with Korean companies.

KOTRA Surabay trade center had Joonsung Kim said “The shipbuilding and offshore plant industry is Korea’s root industry and a high value-added industry. We will support our companies and technologies to advance into the ASEAN region.”

KOTRA joins hands with E-Mart to expand exports of consumer goods

On the 27th of last month, KOTRA and emart signed an MOU for export support for consumer goods companies at KOTRA headquarters. This is to expand the exports of emart's cooperative consumer goods companies.

Small and medium-sized consumer goods companies cite ‘brand awareness’ as one of their export difficulties, and joint entry with large companies is a good way to resolve this difficulty.

A cooperative consumer goods company official said “Buyers are more favorable to joint ventures with major brands.”

emart plans to expand its Asia-centered global franchise business to new regions to increase exports and share the fruits of its efforts with cooperative consumer goods companies. KOTRA CEO Jeongyeol Yoo said “Small and medium-sized companies collaborating with large companies helps in resolving various export difficulties along with enhancing brand awareness. We will expand cooperation to help SMEs export more easily.”
