Hyundai Motor Company conducted pilot service of ‘autonomous driving robo shuttle’ at the National Assembly on July 5. Lawmakers and officials of the assembly attended on the day to watch the pilot running. Both parties signed an agreement last November for autonomous shuttle within the areas of the assembly. Two Solati Robo Shuttles (10-passenger seats) run on a 3.1km section connecting the National Assembly grounds and the visitor parking lot from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays, and any National Assembly staff member or visitor can use it for free. Level 4 self-driving vehicles are characterized by the fact that the driver does not intervene, except for some exceptional situations, such as recognizing and judging the driving situation by itself and controlling it. The self-driving mobility platform ‘TAP!’, developed by the company’s global software center, 42Dot, provides customized mobility for users by providing real-time vehicle location and estimated time of arrival when passengers enter their pick-up/drop-off location through the app. 

Ioniq 6 selected as ‘2023 Electric Vehicle of the Year’ by Car and Driver

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 was selected as the ‘2023 Electric Vehicle of the Year’ announced by Car and Driver, an American automobile magazine. Following last year’s Ioniq 5, the company was honored with the Car and Driver’s ‘Electric Vehicle of the Year’ award for two consecutive years. The consecutive awards add meaning in that the excellence of the exclusive electric vehicle developed based on the company’s dedicated vehicle platform E-GMP was recognized. Car and Driver conducted a rigorous three-week evaluation of 14 electric vehicle models from Audi, BMW, Cadillac, and Mercedes-Benz, including the Ioniq 6, and the Ioniq 6 beat out 13 competing vehicles to become the best electric vehicle. The evaluation was conducted based on ﹦ vehicle value ﹦ driving test ﹦ new technology applied to the vehicle ﹦ driving pleasure. The Ioniq 6 was selected as the ‘2023 World Car of the Year’, ‘World Electric Vehicle of the Year’, and ‘World Car Design of the Year’ at the ‘2023 World Car Awards’ announced by the organizers of the World Car Awards in April, winning three awards. In January, it was selected as the ‘Best in Class’ vehicle in the ‘Large Family Car’ category of the Euro New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), a European new car safety evaluation program, and proved its outstanding safety.
