Samsung Foundry holds Samsung Foundry Forum 2023 and Samsung Advanced Foundry Ecosystem at COEX, Seoul

Samsung Foundry held the Samsung Foundry Forum 2023 and the Samsung Advanced Foundry Ecosystem at COEX Seoul on July 4 under the theme on Innovating Beyond Boundaries and Accelerate the Speed of Innovation respectably. The company presents a common goal of 'customer success' with about 100 partners at the 'SAFE Forum', and develops the fabless customer's cutting-edge product design infrastructure from 8-inch to the cutting-edge 2-nano GAA process, such as the 'PDK Prime' solution. The company plans to provide the ‘PDK Prime’ solution to 2-nano and 3-nano process fabless customers from the second half of this year, and expand it to 8-inch and 12-inch legacy processes in the future. Among the PDK Prime items, SDVC (Static Device Voltage Checker) is a function that allows you to check within 10 minutes whether the voltage of semiconductor internal elements such as transistors, resistors, and capacitors are designed within the standard. As a result, it is possible to reduce the rated voltage error inspection time by more than 90% compared to the existing ones. At this forum, major fabless companies in Korea, LX Semicon, Rebellion, and DeepX, participated as session presenters and introduced the results of developing AI and low-power semiconductors through Samsung Electronics' foundry process. Samsung Electronics disclosed the status and plan of cutting-edge MPW service, and plans to strengthen the system semiconductor research and development ecosystem at home and abroad. MPW (Multi Project Wafer) is a type of foundry for small-volume production of various types, and refers to a method of producing different types of semiconductor products on one wafer.

Samsung took part at the 15th International IoT, Appliance and Robot Fair held at the Kimdaejung Convention Center Gwangju from 29 June to 1 July. The company organized ‘SmartThings Energy Saving’ in the center of the exhibition hall and introduced Bespoke home products such as refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners with various energy-saving technologies, including hardware as well as software. Bespoke home products are equipped with high-efficiency core parts and energy-saving technology through AI saving mode. In the ‘Net Zero Home’ introduced together, you can not only utilize the energy produced through the solar panel, but also monitor or reduce the energy consumption of home appliances or the entire house through SmartThings. SmartThings Energy helps residents succeed in DR by minimizing the amount of power, such as automatically switching linked products to AI saving mode or turning off the power when the power exchange or local government issues DR during times of high power consumption. The company also introduced ‘fine plastic reduction filters’, ‘Zero Edition’ chairs and rugs, ‘SmartThings Cooking’ and ‘SmartThings Pet Care’.
