Ministry of Economy and Finance hold an international conference to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the five-year economic development plan

The Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Korea Development Institute held an international conference to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the five-year economic development plan on May 25 at Fairmont Hotel, Yeouido, Seoul. At the conference, the achievements of economic development promotion and the current situation were examined, examples and development directions for international cooperation in economic development were explored, development strategies and visions, industrial and talent innovation, and improvement of social consensus structures were emphasized. Vice Prime Minister Choo held a bilateral meeting with Ghanaian Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta on the same day to discuss ways to strengthen economic development cooperation. 

Deputy Prime Minister Choo Kyung-ho visits Aprogen Osong Factory

On May 24, Deputy Prime Minister Choo Kyung-ho visited Aprogen's Osong Plant to inspect the biopharmaceutical production site and held a meeting with industry officials. He emphasized that the bio industry is emerging as a new technology and new industry as it converges with digital, and is becoming more important in supply chains and economic security, and said that the government plans to foster the bio industry as a second semiconductor. He said that the growth of the bio industry depends on how to utilize the vast amount of health care data accumulated by health insurance corporations and private hospitals, and said that he would push for drastic regulatory improvements. In order to leap forward as a global biopharmaceutical production center, the government announced that it plans to actively support biotechnology investment by private companies such as biomanufacturing innovation research and development. The participants highly appreciated the government's will to foster the bio industry and requested the government's continued attention and support for the technology-intensive bio industry, which requires a huge amount of money and time from product development to commercialization.
