The ICT Innovation Square project is linked with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency. It is to find and foster talented young AI and SW manpower for the coming age of digital transition. Currently, the project is open in 5 regions and the Ministry of Science and ICT is ambitious to foster manpower of around 37,000 with 8,000 graduates every year. One of the institutions carrying out this project is Korea Polytechnic Asan.

 

The hub of AI training in Chungcheong region

Korea Polytechnic Asan currently is running 19 AI courses, 3 blockchain courses, 2 data courses and 1 IoT course which also include certificate courses for AI and RPA. The courses are linked to Hackathon where participants boast their skills in software development, test and collaboration within the given time. Hackathon first took place in Canada in 1999 and is now being held throughout the world. The software developed through Hackathon is being used in many areas of our life. The ICT Innovation Square project is linked to Hackthon and it goals to promote new future industries and regional economy. 

“The ICT Innovation Square targets to promote AI-integrated industries by fostering experts in the field. It is expected to help us find new business ideas and also to build new business environment.” says an insider of Korea Polytechnic Asan. 

 

Importance of ICT

The ICT Innovation Square project for the year 2023 can be applied online by following steps: ICT Innovation Square homepage – register as a member – select AI convergence – artificial intelligence/blockchain/data/IoT – Chungnam - Korea Polytechnic Asan. 

Choi Ui-sun, Director of Korea Polytechnic Asan Industry-Academic Cooperation, says, “ICT is the foundation for creative economy and all industries and businesses. ICT can build advanced product services and it will boost digital transition. Korea Polytechnic Asan walks along this innovative shift and we are holding technology seminars and idea exchange events on a regular basis in addition to our excellent curriculum.”
