In 2020, larvae were found in household faucet filters, causing great social turmoil. Larvae were found in activated carbon filters used in many water purification facilities, and at least 800 complaints were filed in Incheon alone. The survey team pointed out the habitat environment, deterioration of facilities, and lack of expertise in operation management as the reasons but without a distinct cause. Distrust of tap water has led to a surge in sales of shower and faucet filters.
In the water purification plants, filter nets were installed, but the filter net was blocked in 2 hours due to turbidity in the sedimented water. Officials have invested a huge amount of money to install glass and exterior walls in the sedimentation basin of the water purification plant, but it is pointed out that fundamental solutions are needed. In other words, a fundamental filtration process is needed in the water purification plant that can block larvae. Developing water-related products in cooperation with K-water
Automatic larval filtration device ALFS provides safe tap water
Based on this technology, the company is collaborating with KITECH to produce R&D-related parts for the defense industry. It also has recently collaborated with K-water to research and develop water-related products. The result is ALFS.
There were no filters as fine as to stop the larvae, and there was no management system in place to clean the eggs before they became larvae. Kim says, “Tap water larvae do not haunt in cool weather. But as the day gets warmer, it will happen again. If the water quality is poor, it is more likely to occur. However, if you make the filter dense, the filter will quickly clog up and it will not be able to do its job. ALFS was developed to solve this problem in cooperation with K-water.”
Automatic filter transfer for convenience, recovered filter is used for data
ALFS is equipped with a special roll filter and automatic filter transfer system that can be used without degradation for a long period of time. It is installed in the sedimentation basin runoff channel to fundamentally block the larvae and eggs of the bedbugs entering from the outside of the water purification plant to the inside. The larvae and eggs that enter the water purification plant are filtered and collected in the pores of the filter, and the filter in which the larvae are collected is recovered, and a new filter is automatically supplied regularly according to the set value.
This is a special filter with excellent permeability that filters only the larvae and allows water and suspended solids to pass through. This filter is made of PE material that is harmless to the human body and has a uniform lattice diatom of more than 150mesh. It is also highly durable to withstand various foreign substances and water pressure, making it easy to manage. Kim explains, “If there are a lot of foreign substances stuck in the filter, the difference in water level between the front and back of the filter will naturally occur. This filter checks the difference in water level by itself and adjusts the roll-up speed.” ALFS is convenient because the filter is replaced in a roll-up method before the filter becomes clogged. Kim says, “Because precision filtration devices have a complex structure, the cost is bound to be very high. However, ALFS is a simple structure that can be easily installed in any water purification plant by installing one filter and a pricket. The cost also is only 1/10.” The body of the ALFS is robust and compact. Its size is small and can be simply installed in the narrow passage between the sedimentation basins. It adopts a top-open structure that allows convenient filter replacement and can be used for about 6 months with a single filter change. If the device runs out of filters, an LED flashing light and an audible notification indicate when it is time to replace it.
It uses STS304 and AL6061 for high durability and excellent corrosion resistance. The recovered filter is used as data that can analyze the water quality status according to seasons and weather.
JS Press Collector makes laborious and difficult picking work easier and simpler
A water collector is a device that collects water from rivers, streams, lakes, and seas for water quality testing. The collector requires heavy labor by tying a 7kg water machine full of water to a rope and pulling it up and down a few tens of meters. You have to calculate the depth by counting the scales one by one, and in winter, the cold makes it difficult to harvest.
To solve this problem, JS INTEGER has developed the Accuril Water Sampling System, which is a reel machine dedicated to collecting with high accuracy and excellent convenience. Arcuril is divided into professional and original, and it is the difference between electric and manual type. Pro is a system that can be harvested without force using electric power. It can be sampled as quickly and easily as it is operated at the push of a button, and automatic sampling is possible through the depth setting of the numerical control system. It also enables precise depth measurement with numerical control and rotary encoders to improve convenience and accuracy. It can also be used semi-permanently, using high-quality batteries and components.
The original is manual, but it is possible to raise and fall the water collector with little force. This is safe even if manually collected because it is automatically fixed when rising by applying an anti-loosening drum. This means that the target depth can be accurately reached as there is a meter that can measure the depth of descent. In addition, Acuril was selected as a venture startup innovation product by the Public Procurement Service.

Quickdoli is extremely durable and corrosion-resistant, and can operate a variety of valves with a single wrench. It is equipped with safety lights and search lights, so you can work safely even in the dark of night. Kim says, “Since faucets are usually buried underground on the roads where vehicles travel, they usually work a lot at night. As a result, workers were always at risk and the work was slow. However, if you use a Quickdoli, one person can work alone with shining the light and adjusting the valve, and it is very safe at intersections because there is a safety light.” It won the silver prize at the Seoul International Invention Exhibition and received great attention from fire departments and various public institutions across the country. Currently, the company plans to develop IoT-controlled ALFS products. Kim says, “We will deliver complete products to our customers and become a company that always pursues new innovations based on honesty.”
