Hyundai Motor unveils vision of ‘Mobile Living Space’ that connects mobility to buildings
On January 30, Hyundai Motor Group unveiled its future vision of redefining mobility space through Mobile Living Space: An Animated Living Space, which shows that mobility and buildings can be organically connected.
In the approximately 4-minute video, Hyundai depicted a situation where mobility is attached to the building and passengers can move freely between both sides without external exposure. From buildings to mobility spaces as well as air conditioning and entertainment systems, it showed the possibility of using vehicle functions like electronic devices in homes and offices.
The video contains the meaning of providing richer values and life experiences to customers through various new technologies in which mobility is not just a simple means of transportation, but is reborn as a more advanced future living space.
After unveiling the concept of connecting buildings and mobility through a future technology video called “Active House” in 2020, the company has been continuing the research and development. The vision revealed this time is meaningful in that it includes specific and patented technologies that can be applied in practice.
The video shows docking with the building by expanding the loop of mobility so that the building and mobility can be connected and disconnected without any error. A technology that adjusts the height of the mobility so that users can move in and out without bending their backs was also shown.
Connecting parts made of rubber material that can be contracted and expanded are used to completely block the outside air without damaging the mobility and appearance of the building.
Hyundai Motor Group has applied for patents for 10 technologies that enable mobility and buildings to be connected in major domestic and overseas markets.
The company is redefining the mobility realm in new fields such as electrification, autonomous driving, connectivity, robotics, future aviation, and smart cities.
Hyundai Motor equips ‘The All New Kona’ with new air purification technology
To maintain a pleasant indoor air quality, Hyundai Motor Company applied EMBIOME’s new technology for purifying indoor air called ‘Eco Coating’ to ‘The All New Kona’.
EMBIOME is a spin off from in-house startups and Eco Coating is an eco-friendly air purification technology developed by combining bio and automotive air conditioning.
The company analyzed more than 4,000 species of microorganisms living in vehicle air conditioners and developed a microbiome combination that does not cause unpleasant odors and is harmless and can be used for a long time.
Eco Coating is a technology that coats the microbiome on the evaporator of the vehicle air conditioner. It treats various gas components that can cause unpleasant odors through bioremediation to keep the indoor air comfortable.
This technology has been verified through tests by Korea Institute of Toxicology, Ministry of Environment, and India’s Eco-friendly Product Evaluation Lab. It was applied to the ‘Ssangtro’, a strategic vehicle in India, and gained high popularity in the Indian market, where air pollution is a serious problem.
