Proclamation ceremony for future space economy roadmap

President Yoon Seok-yeol attended the Proclamation ceremony for future space economy roadmap held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Seoul on November 28th. About 150 people from domestic and international space-related institutions and companies attended the proclamation ceremony. Yoon announced the “Future Space Economy Roadmap,” which contains the policy direction until 2045 for Korea to leap forward as a space economy powerhouse. He emphasized that in the future, a country with a vision for space can lead the global economy and solve the problems facing mankind. He added that the dream of becoming a space power is not a distant future, but an opportunity and hope for children and young people. The contents of the roadmap are as follows: development of an independent launch vehicle engine capable of flying to the moon within 5 years, landing on the moon in 2032 and starting resource mining, and landing on Mars in 2045. The government’s six major policies and support directions are as follows: ùÞ Exploration of the Moon and Mars, ʾ Leap forward as a space technology powerhouse, Ïç Fostering the space industry, áì Nurturing space talent, í© Realization of space security, and Óð International cooperation. He said that he would establish an expert-oriented and project-oriented space agency, and prepare for the space economy era with the president directly serving as the chairman of the National Space Council. On the same day, the Korea Aerospace Administration Establishment Promotion Team was launched within the Ministry of Science and ICT. Domestic space development-related companies announced the ‘Joint Declaration for the Realization of the Space Economy’, which strengthens their will to actively participate in the government’s policy. About 70 companies, including Hanwha Aerospace, LIG Nex1, and KT SAT, participated in the announcement of the joint declaration.

 

59th Trade Day

President Yoon Seok-yeol attended the ‘59th Trade Day’ event held at COEX, Seoul Trade Center on Monday, December 5. Yoon encouraged the hard work of traders who achieved the highest export amount ever and ranked 6th in the world despite difficult conditions. Following the 1st export strategy meeting held on November 23, he participated in the defense industry export strategy meeting held on November 24 and continues to promote exports. In his congratulatory remarks on the 59th Trade Day, he said “Exports have always been a strong support for our economy, and are the backbone of our economy and a source of jobs. In order for Korea to become one of the top five export powerhouses by 2026, the government will mobilize all export support capabilities through the ¡ÙExport Strategy Meeting¡Ú presided over by the President and the ¡ÙAll in One Export/Order Support Group¡Ú. Future summit diplomacy will focus on promoting exports of Korean companies and advancing overseas. We will actively foster nuclear power, defense, and overseas infrastructure as new flagship export industries by making full use of Team Korea.”
