It is time in which many of us study and work remotely. One of the reasons is the impact of COVID-19 that has continued for three years in social distancing. Another contributing fact is that devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops are making this environment much easier than ever before.

17 consecutive years of receiving Korea Educational Brand Awards!

Top in the number of students among cyber universities in Korea

Since its establishment in 2002, Hanyang Cyber University has continued to grow based on its online education know-how accumulated over the past 20 years. The university has not only reorganized the LMS into a global standard, but also has its own video seminar system that allows up to 1,000 people to connect simultaneously to enhance interaction. With such a distinction, the university was ranked first in the Korean Brand Star Cyber University category in March of this year. In addition, the university has been awarded the Korea Educational Brand Award for 17 consecutive years. According to the University Information Disclosure in 2022, the number of students is 19,441 (18,279 undergraduate students, 1,162 graduate students), which is the largest number of enrolled students among current cyber universities. The rate of admission to prestigious graduate schools is also quite high, and the number of master’s students is the largest among online graduate schools in Korea. The university’s smart campus is particularly popular. In the campus, students can take all courses according to their own time with their smartphones, and all of them are counted as attendance. Customized mentoring allows students to receive various help from their seniors throughout the semester, such as preparing for exams and assignments. The online academic coaching program, which is assigned to freshmen at the beginning of the semester, is also worth noting. Scholarship benefits are also essential. The university has a total of 15,826 students receiving whopping 24.3 billion accumulated scholarships. Employees and sole proprietors can receive 20% of tuition for one year, and full-time housewives scholarships, scholarships for hope, and scholarships to encourage high school graduates are among the benefits.

Department of Senior Business attracts attention amid fast growing number of senior citizens

Hanyang Cyber University is the first cyber university to open a senior business department. The Department of Senior Business is nurturing professionals who will lead the fields of health, nursing care, start-up, consulting, leisure, and education in preparation for an aging society with a low birth rate. The department is growing alongside increasing social demand with a 54% increase in number of students from the previous year. The department has signed a MOU with the Korea Association for Life Planning. The association’s offline lectures are reorganized into regular courses in the Department of Senior Business and students can take the related certification exam after completing 4 courses related to life design. The university opened an ending coordinator qualification course in the first half of this year to teach convalescence, will, relic organization, and pet-loss. As of November this year, the university is holding a special lecture on ending life under the theme ‘let’s talk about death’. Invited to the lecture is Ha Ji-eun, the author of <I Decided to Hug Me> and the CEO of Mindful Travel. Hanyang Cyber University Department of Senior Business professor Kim Shin-young, in particular, made himself shine by listing name in the 2022 Korea Culture Management Awards.
