Hyundai Motor signs industry-academic cooperation MOU with Singapore ITE to foster future car maintenance personnel

Hyundai Motor Company announced on September 20 that it had signed a three-party industry-academic cooperation MOU with Singapore’s ITE (Institute of Technical Education) and Hyundai Motor’s Singapore sales agency Komoco.

ITE is a university under the Ministry of Education in Singapore. This MOU is for students of ITE Automotive Engineering, the only automotive department in Singapore.

Through the business agreement, the ‘Global Technology Capability Reinforcement Program’ will be held from 2023. Up to 10 outstanding students selected through the program for 5 years will work in Singapore Hyundai Motor Company Komoco after completing 2 months of training in Korea.

The curriculum in Korea consists of Hyundai Motor’s new technology-oriented automobile theory education and field training at Hyundai Motor’s direct service center. To this end, based on collaboration with the field team that supports Hyundai Motor’s global service network, the development of an educational curriculum utilizing the domestic service center infrastructure will be promoted.

The MOU ceremony was held at a workshop dedicated to electric vehicles (EVs) established by Hyundai Motor Company inside the Komoco dealership. After the signing ceremony, a workshop dedicated to electric vehicles was prepared, and high-voltage battery diagnosis and repair demonstrations were held.

Hyundai Motor’s electric vehicle workshop provides electric vehicle-specific repair and maintenance services exclusively for electric vehicle customers. In addition, 1:1 customer service personnel are operated, and by introducing a digital process, non-face-to-face entry and exit are possible 24 hours a day.

Hyundai Motor plans to operate the electric vehicle workshop as a “mobility life base” that provides a differentiated customer experience rather than simply a space for repairs. Hyundai Motor customers can use the EV charging area, lounge, and cafeteria even without repair work.

With this MOU as an opportunity, Hyundai Motor plans to firmly establish itself as a global brand that contributes to the local community by actively nurturing future car maintenance technicians in Singapore.

Started pilot service of Roboshuttle in Pangyo Zero City

From September 29, Hyundai Motor Company introduced the Robo Shuttle pilot service that combines autonomous driving and artificial intelligence technology in Pangyo, Gyeonggi-do.

“Roboshuttle” is a compound word of “Robot” and “Shuttle,” which means bus, and refers to multi-seater mobility that applies autonomous driving technology. A level 4 autonomous vehicle can control the vehicle by recognizing and determining the driving situation on its own. Except in some limited circumstances, it is characterized by no emergency driver intervention.

Hyundai Motor Company put two self-driving vehicles converted from a large van, Solati, into the RoboShuttle pilot service, and provided the service by combining the AI-based demand-response mobility service ‘Shucle’.

The Shuchle service, developed by MCS (Mobility & Connected-car Service) Lab, an organization that develops mobility services incorporating artificial intelligence technology, is an optimal route created through an artificial intelligence algorithm when a passenger calls a car from a nearby stop through the app. By following the method, the vehicle moves to the called location, reducing waiting time and increasing dispatch efficiency.

Hyundai Motor Company operates a limited trial service for selected stakeholders and employees. Through this, opinions on technology and services will be collected, and based on the collected opinions, improvements will be made and provided to general customers.
