ROK-Indonesia Summit

President Yoon and his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo had a summit at the presidential office in Seoul on July 28. Yoon said to Widodo "We are living in the time where economy is security and security economy so it is very important for us to work together for economic security." He thanked Widodo for cooperation when South Korea was struggling for supply last year and said that it was a good example of cooperation between the two countries. Yoon said "Your visit to Korea after Biden is meaningful and it tells importance. The two countries have made a great progress for the last 50 years since 1973 in economy, trade, culture, diplomacy, security and people exchange and Indonesia is the sole South East Asian country to have a special strategic partnership with us. I praise highly of your leadership." Widodo said to Yoon "I thank you for your warm welcome and I'm convinced that your leadership will strengthen fields of our cooperation. I intend this visit to be a great opportunity for economic cooperation." The banquet after the summit were attended by first ladies and high officials of both parties as well as 36 economic big shots including chairmans of LS Group, Hyundai Motor Company and LG Group. Yoon said in the banquet "The pandemic, climate change and supply chain issues will strengthen our relations more than ever before because the two countries share in many things and areas. Both countries are playing an important role in keeping and promoting the peace and prosperity of Indo-Pacific region. The strategic partnership will tow the cooperation in the region and we will work together for an open, inclusive and transparent international order." Yoon suggested a toss for friendship and prosperity of both countries. The two leaders exchanged opinions during 4 hours of summit including the banquet and talked freely on light issues such as culture, family and food. 

Yoon attends 11th Information Day

President Yoon attended the 11th Information Day ceremony held at the Information Security Cluster in Pangyo on July 13. In his speech, Yoon emphasized importance on cyber security and made sure of government's will of introducing Talpiot and increasing the number of courses at universities. He said "The government will strengthen cyber security systems and build private-public information share and analysis systems to prevent and respond efficiently. Advanced technologies will be introduced and the soldiers discharged from the services will have opportunities to get a job in the related field through the Talpiot programs like Israel. The government also will foster 100,000 manpowers in the field through opening more related courses at universities while establishing a cyber provisional army. We have to work in cooperation with NATO for cyber drills and for securing cyber networks. Joining the Budapest Convention will also prevent and respond cyber crimes." After the ceremony, Yoon toured the Security Gym to watch a drill and attended a meeting themed on fostering industry experts. On the day, Yoon awarded citations and medals to those who have made contributions to the field. Some of the receivers included Chungang University professor Kiheok Lee, Hanwha Techwin CEO Soonhong Ahn, Korea Midland Power Co information security division head Kilhwan Im, and Korea Internet & Security Agency team leader Jinman Kim. <PowerKorea>
