Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs reports that a Korean eats average 268 eggs a year. Eggs contain protein, amino acid and vitamin but very low fat. It might be not easy to find food that do not contain egg whole or part. As health issues are one of the frequent subjects of chat nowadays, demand for organic eggs is high. 

Nestled in Ilsan Goyang, Yunanae Forest Farm is producing fertile chicken eggs. Difference between fertilized egg and unfertilized egg is that the former comes from rooster mating while the latter from hens. The former is full of vitality while the latter is a lump of organic matter. 

Around 2,500 layer chickens and roosters at Yunanae Forest Farm eat organic feed that is balancedly mixed nutrients in clean environment. Taeheon Kim, CEO of Yunanae Forest Farm, removed the 16 harmful ingredients such as GMO grains but instead uses the 16 beneficial ingredients such as wormwood and whole wheat. 

“Corn is a common supply of protein to chickens and it helps make the yellow of the egg yolk yellower due to the substance called xanthophyll. But I don’t believe about the trustworthiness of GMO corns as the chickens grown by mainly eating the corns show high cholesterol level and extreme imbalance of fatty acid. Our eggs, on the other hand, have 1:4 ratio omega 6 and omega 3 and have no fish smell” says Kim.

Yunanae Forest Farm eggs are not sold retail or wholesale but ‘order to deliver on a 6 time subscription.’ You can choose type of eggs and the date and quantity for the delivery. 

“This is because I want to deliver as possible as the day layed fresh eggs to the door of our subscribers. Delivering fresh eggs is as important as growing the chicken with healthy feed and environment” says Kim.

As for the price, despite its quality and healthiness, one egg costs only 1,000 won ($0.78). Yunanae Forest Farm has around 5,000 subscribers as of 2022 of which many of them actually have paid a visit to the farm to check whether the farm really is organic and healthy. 

As the business is going well, Kim is to see a 10,578m2 big farm in Yeoncheon County within this year to meet the increasing demand. <PowerKorea>
