People leaving city to live in a country side seem to be increasing fast. Health as well as eco-friendly is one of the much talked of subjects among many city dwellers. While many types of country houses are on the market for them to choose, traditional red clay-based country houses are equally attracting attention. Numerous Korean medicinal books record benefits of red clay and Wangsilyangmeonsul in particular records "red clay will be used to save people of the world in the future." Red clay is known to emit beneficial far infrared radiation, absorbed into 4 to 5cm deep from the skin, increases body temperature, releases waste, expands capillary, accelerates metabolism and prevents women's diseases.
Chowon Hwangto House
Chowon Hwangto House (meadow red clay house) is a South Korean red clay house builder. Having 40 years of expertise in housing and 28 years in red clay house, the company has built a strong presence in this competitive market with latest trend of mobile homes and huts. Yongwan Kim, CEO of Chowon Hwangto House, is differentiating his red clay house with traditional frames and latest heating and insulation. Insulators are 150 to 170mm thick coated with about 2cm red clay mortar, which is an eco-friendly way to do insulation. The roof looks traditional but is loaded with 150 to 200mm panels for strengthened insulation. Some of his clients are giving their impressions that "Chowon red clay house probably is one of role model country houses suitable for people living in a cutting edge tech world."
100% eco-friendly red clay
All red clays used at Chowon are 100% eco-friendly. They were mixed with seaweeds and shells instead of chemical substances and burned at 300°C. "Red clay made this way", according to Kim, "is stronger than cement and lasts decades without cracks."
Self-developed heating system
Kim developed a heating system suitable for his red clay house. He double layered excels to enable both firewood and boiler. When operated together (firewood and boiler), the temperature goes up to 80°C like a hot sauna according to him.
"Chowon offers as little as a 19 square meter hut to mobile home and large house depending on your need and want. I have 40 years of experience in the field and I'm driven by my business philosophy 'more healthier homes to more people'. <PowerKorea>
