The Korea Magazine Association celebrated the 56th Magazine Day on November 1 at the Press Center Seoul. On the day, those who have contributed to promoting magazine industry received prizes issued from the 4 government high officials and in the 7 fields picked by the association. A notable winner is Yoonsung Nam, Publisher of <Art College Entrance> first issued in 1989. He is credited for his contribution to promoting art competitions and inviting famous art exhibitions to South Korea. At the 14th Magazine Media Contents Competition held alongside the celebration ceremony on the day, Gyumin Kim of ‘Memory Begun’ received a prize from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism while Sul Jeon of ‘Cloud Break’ received a prize from the association. Magazine Day has been celebrated every year since the publication of South Korea’s first magazine <Boy> in November 1, 1908, except some years which were not possible to hold. Taking the steering wheel of the association, Unjeong Baek promised in his speech on the day: 1) fair opportunity 2) fair distribution 3) strong administrative 4) strong association 5) transparent management.
