Healthy ingredients and 100 kinds of breads every day: Mamie Gateaux tops in sales

(PowerKorea) South Korea recently has seen an increasing number of bakeries and cafes on the street. Manu and taste aside, interior and ambience are very important to attract eyes of passersby who have raised taste of enjoying their life. As the competition is heated up, promising bakeries and cafes are now adding healthy ingredients alongside menu, taste and interior to keep the business rolling. 

A South Korean bakery brand Mamie Gateaux is famous for using healthy ingredients and making 100 kinds of fresh breads every day which played the decisive role to put the company top in bread sales in large marts. 

Instead of using flour, Mamie Gateaux uses rice powder and/or fiber-rich and gluten-poor rye for those who have difficulty digesting after eating breads. 100 kinds of breads are made every day and the store in Hanaro Mart Gimpo topped No.1 in sales last year. December the same year, it also topped No.1 in sales in 130 stores of Lotte Mart nationwide in the same category. A company official ascribes this huge success to healthy ingredients and variety of kinds that are made every day.

Interior, in fact, also played a part. The interior is neat and tidy while the exterior finished in simplicity and monotone which all together arouse a feel of a bakery on the corner of street somewhere in Europe. Also need to be taken account is the price which consumers do not feel that they are expensive at all even if they add a cup of coffee. 

Taking the momentum, Mamie Gateaux is nestling in large outlets and major department stores at the moment while preparing to open a 9,917 square meter big bakery cafe in Gimpo no later than the spring of 2022. This second story cafe is expected to have 200 seats and a garden full of wild plants and herbs and a pond that will provide visitors a rest over refreshment in nature.

Mamie Gateaux CEO Heonsei Lee graduated from the Culinary Institute of America New York with a distinguished and was trained and worked at Hilton Hotel before coming back home. 

Mamie Gateaux won the grand prize at the 2021 Korea Culture Management Awards in the bakery category held by the Herald Group.
