Introducing low sugar, low calorie and low carbohydrate macaroon: Kolanggee Macaroon

(PowerKorea) Many of us love macaroon for fancy colors, agreeable size and sweetness. The snack is known to be introduced in France by an Italian chef during the Renaissance and it was presented with a ganache, buttercream or jam sandwiched between two cookies. The confection comes in a wide variety of flavors and is mildly moist and easily melts in the mouth. However, as the key ingredient is sugar, people in a diet rather tend to endure the temptation. 

Yuri Kim, CEO of Kolanggee Macaroon, used to work as a programmer in an IT company. She made macaroon as a hobby and one day she thought herself: “Why can’t I make low sugar macaroon?” So she launched recipe development. Having gone through many failures, she finally succeeded making her own recipe. She eventually quit her IT job and introduced her low sugar low calorie Kolanggee Macaroon which is now being sold online with good customer reviews.  

The macaroon has 40% less sugar than other macaroons on the market. The raw sugar she uses contains minerals and dietary fiber and they help reduce blood sugar. Instead of flour, Kim uses 100% almond powder that gives deep flavor. For this reason, Kolanggee Macaroon is not only desired by people on a diet but also by patients in hospitals. 

In addition to low sugar low calorie macaroon, she has also developed low carbohydrate ‘4g macaroon’. The macaroon contains 4g of natural sugar called allulose and 4g of smooth carbs. Allulose can be gained from grapes and figs and it is not absorbed in the body but released. In other words, Kolanggee Macaroon is a ketogenic desert according to Kim. While Kolanggee Macaroon is sold online in a 6 pack and a 12 pack, she is now running a manufacturing factory for OEM. 

“It is one of my goals to lower the price of the expensive ‘low spec macaroon’ that has reduced contents of sugar, calorie and chemical substances. I and my staff value highly of ingredients we use despite expensive unit prices but we are on the process to reducing it while the quality intact. Kolanggee Macaroon is having excellent reviews on quality and healthiness and we are ambitious to expand our business through marketing and offline stores” says Kim.
