(PowerKorea) Samsung Electronics joined hands with Seoul National University to develop core parts technologies for next generation home appliances. The two parties signed a MOU at the Seoul National University Electric Power Research Institute on September 9. Attended on the day was Samsung Electronics home appliances division vice president and Dean of Seoul National University College of Engineering. The MOU states a joint research and development of next generation compressor and motor technologies with focus on high energy efficiency, low vibration and noise and strengthened durability. Compressor and motor of Samsung home appliances take about 70 to 80% out of the whole energy consumption and the motor of the washing machine in particular takes around 50% alone. The new products released from 2021 come with a lifetime warranty on compressor and motor whether repair or change and the industry-academic cooperation this time is expected to raise the performance of both parts. 

Samsung forms a partnership with the Louvre

Samsung Electronics formed a partnership with the Louvre Museum and introduced popular works of the museum on its lifestyle TV ‘The Frame’ on September 16. Prior to this, the company formed the same partnership with the Museo del Prado (Spain) and the State Hermitage Museum (Russia). Those who have The Frame can appreciate 40 masterpieces including Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and Eugene Delacroix’s Liberty Leading the People at its art store. The Frame’s art store offers around 1,500 works of 600 artists from 42 countries in the world. You can use The Frame as a frame when not using as a TV and the 4K QLED screen shows vivid colors and lively images. The Frame released this year is 24.9mm thick, half the previous model, and it comes in a number of colors to choose and a frame bezel. The size comes in 32 to 85 inches.
