(PowerKorea) Planting its root in Busan, Opera Company has made presence in the field through engaging numerous concerts and cultural events at various places: Busan Citizen’s Day, Musical School, Oncheongdong outdoor concert, Opera with Son Bum-soo, Busan Culture Art Healing Academy, Gaya Culture Festival, Park Yeong Gyu & Heaven Singers, Wine Concert, Like Me Like You, and Yes We Together. Opera Company’s creative opera ‘Haeundae’ also received a positive review. 

Apart from vigorous engagement in a variety of events, the 12 members of the company hold a performance once a year for people in Busan and South Gyeongsang Province. Unfortunately, the pandemic has brought a stop and in search of finding a way to give a concert, Lee Yu-jin, Director, of Opera Company, organized a 25 minute surprise opera busking on July 18 in front of Bunsik Mama, her premium snack franchise flagship store. 

Lee started opera during her first year at university and ever since served various roles from assistant director to conductor and concert planner. However, she faced a harsh reality many opera singers have to deal with: money. Not discouraged, she ran a cart bar on the street at night and carried her passion during the day.

Last April, she launched a premium snack brand Bunsik Mama while keeping the director’s position of Opera Company for 7 years. In June, she has been appointed as Chairwoman of the Busan Power of Education Culture and Performance Policy Planning Committee. She is determined to keep introducing collaboration between opera and her food franchise.
