KDCA worries fourth wave of the virus

(PowerKorea) Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency is worrying the possible fourth wave of the virus if we fail to contain it to stable level, warned KDCA Commissioner Jeon Eun-kyeong on July 2 at the meeting with Prime Minister Kim Bu-gyeom. The daily infected is lingering around 600 in the capital region with significant increase among young people due to loosened social distancing. Delta-variant in particular has been reported in group infection which makes it worrying of yet another round of mass spread. Jeon said that delta-variant is spreading in speed if we looked at the aspect in the UK, US and Israel and it was very important therefore for us to cut the spread right now if we must prevent the mass spread. She urged people to cancel or postpone unnecessary meetings and gatherings and wear a mask even outside, adding that, any hint of symptoms must immediately reported to be checked. Meanwhile, KDCA is raising the level of checking and monitoring against especially the delta-variant. 

KCTU holds illegal assembly in Jongno

The Korean Confederation of Trade Union held illegal assembly in Jongno District Seoul on July 3 and KDCA expressed a strong regret. The Central Emergency Headquarters social strategy division head Sohn Young-lae stated that Seoul Metropolitan City did not permit the assembly but KCTU carried it on illegally and those who were responsible would face legal charge on illegal mass assembly and breach of quarantine rules. Around 8,000 members of the union gathered around Jongno District on the day demanding for eradication of serious accidents, of temporary employee system and increase of minimum wage. Seoul Metropolitan City has lodged a complaint against KCTU with the Jongno Police on July 4 for breaching the Infection Prevention Law.
