A fast rising South Korean luxury golf shoes brand Avves Golf won the best golf shoes at the 2020 Korea Brilliant People & Brand Awards.

Kim Min-ju, CEO of Avves Golf, spent her teenage years in the US with talent in art but turned her course to entrepreneurship at Babson College to fulfill her longtime dream of running her own business. She joined a number of startup companies afterwards in a way to seek an opportunity of inspiration. 

Feeling despondent still not figuring out the business she really wanted to run, she put things aside awhile and went on a trip. As luck would have it, she happened to see a pair of shoes that were so attractive and enchanting. And she soon found out they were English. Without further wandering, she took a course at Demontfort University, UK, where globally recognized Malaysian Chinese couture shoe designer Jimmy Choo studied. 

Fired by the inspiration and magic she felt on the trip, she pushed herself to a limit, graduated with top honors, successfully completed a pattern course at an Italian shoe institution on sponsorship, and got an internship at a prestigious English shoes brand followed by job offers from Vivienne Westwood and Sophia Webster. 

Determined to fulfill her long time dream of running her own business, she flew back homeland and launched her own brand Avves Golf October 2020 with the head office in Seoul but leaving the design office in London. Meaning birds in Latin, CEO Kim named Avves for all golfers play from birdies to albatross.

Though a newcomer in the market, Avves Golf boasts technological capabilities in insole, outsole and last (a mechanical form of human foot for manufacture and repair of shoes) which was developed at the prestigious factory in Northampton, UK. 

Also passed the FITI Testing & Research Institute's odor, mold and antibacterial tests with excellent marks, Avves Golf offers a number of models to choose from shoes (phoenix, hummingbird, swan, blackswan and pitta in black, white, blue, red, pink and orange) to accessories. Despite the rather heavy look, the shoes are incredibly light and comfortable. 

With more and more young people playing golf in South Korea, the market is estimated to have reached around 6 trillion won (5.4 billion USD) by 2022.
