The heating bill is a huge burden of greenhouse farmers in winter. It contributes to increase of operation cost and of debt as a result. While the government is pushing forward modernization of greenhouse farming due to high maintenance cost and also emission of carbon, a felt specialized company HyeonSung has introduced a duct down lagging cover that keeps 92.4% heat in the greenhouse as proved at the test on a floriculture farm house carried out by the Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corporation Export Import Customs Center. 

The test kept the temperature at 14℃ without running a heater when the outside temperature was –3℃. This is because duck down has excellent insulation thanks to layers and layers of air bound. Duck down lagging cover is condensation-free and shade-free. Compared to cashmilon, duct down lagging cover is 10 to 15% more expensive in installation but it lasts up to 10 years while cashmilon lasts up to 5 years. The difference is balanced after using duck down lagging cover just for one year, says Baek Hyeon-guk, CEO of HyeonSung.

"Farmers can save heating bill by more than 30% by using duck down lagging cover. Also the duck down is made of the recycled so it contributes to reducing carbon emission. Thanks to this excellent function and eco-friendliness, I'm working on obtaining Green Certificate soon."

HyeonSung duck down lagging cover is currently being used at hundreds of farm houses nationwide at the moment and is receiving excellent reviews from the farmers. A farmer said that he experienced harvest 3 months earlier after using duck down lagging cover. 

"A tomato greenhouse in Uzbekistan brought forth of the harvest by one month with 50% increase in productivity. A test in China, carried out by the Foundation of Agri, Tech, Commercialization and Transfer Korea and the Chinese Academy of Agriculture Science, showed 32% increase in productivity while keeping the inside temperature at 7℃ when outside temperature was -23℃."

Taking the momentum, CEO Baek is planning to build the second factory in Gyeonggi Province to be used as the springboard to go global.
