Opened in April 2019 near Nowon Station, Seoul, cafe Gamgak has built presence in the heated up cafe market with new-tro concept. Retro is a style of olden fashions, music and interior etcetera that people enjoy today in reminiscence. New-tro is a revival of retro widely and fastly spread in South Korea with restaurants and coffee shops leading the trend at the moment.

Gamgak CEO Myeong Hong-bin enlivened the ambience with retro-interior alongside antique props. Classical paintings are hung on the walls and teapots give cafegoers a feeling that they are being treated noble. A number of French souffle dishes come with sophisticated plating with charming garnish and one might cannot help indulging into its smoothness. Cafegoers are highly recommended to try an einspanner or handmade fruit syrup alongside a choice of souffle which are the frequent upload on social media.

CEO Myeong Hong-bin's love of cafe is great that he upgraded the function of the space to a level of a cultural space rather then just selling drinks and snacks only. He started cafegoing as a hobby at first but the hobby grew to passion and he had traveled far and wide in seeking of unique cafes before opening Gamgak.

"Gamgak is still growing. While the concept is settled satisfactorily, I'm working on better manuals for operation, menus and marketing. It is really important to keep uniqueness of a cafe in this day and age of overflooding cafe business. But this actually stimulates my motivation and keep me challenging" says Myeong.

If you live around Nowon Station or happen to be around, you have nothing to lose to swing by for a noble and reminiscent treat.
