Tree Port is an eco-friendly company that makes eco-friendly tree straws. Experts at Tree Port make straws by slicing pine tree thinly and attach the seal with unharmful biodegradable glue. Straws are not only eco-friendly but they also keep unique smell and taste of drinks like iced coffee for example. It is another advantage that pine tree straws keep the shape firm for a long time unlike the existing paper straws.

Pine tree straws passed non-toxic test July this year carried out by Korea Conformity Laboratories. A 50 unit package is sold at 5,000 won (4.28 USD). The trend encourages people to use eco-friendly straws. While plastic takes 500 years to go back to nature, trees take as short as 6 months.

Tree Pork CEO Park Chan-ho currently is negotiating with a global coffee brand to supply pine tree straws and part of profits will go to environment organizations when a deal is made.

Tree Pork was established in 2014 and has manufactured hinoki wood bath, beds and furniture. Eco-friendly has always been a motto of the company and it was February this year CEO Park obtained a patent for pine tree straws.

Following pine tree straws, a number of eco-friendly lines are set to release. They are disposable cups, disposable plates and disposable packages.

Park says “I’m going to use wood produced in North Korea, Russia and China to secure both quality and price competitiveness. When things go as I’ve planned, I hope I can make contribution to activation of economic cooperation especially between North and South Koreas.”

It is notable that Tree Port has unique energy recovery ventilator technique. Energy recovery ventilator is an air circulation device that purifies air indoor by circulating the air.
