Daegu Haany University Oriental Sports Medicine Professor Kim Ye-young listed her name in the 2020 Innovation Winner two years in a row. She is credited for customized industry-university programs and lectures as well as continuous research and exchange in the field.

The Department of Oriental Sports Medicine signed business agreements with Ulsan Wellfit Training Center (rehab training center) May 2018 and C.O.L.S (Pilates D.Ella) March 2019 to strengthen field study and employment. 

Daegu Haany University recently has introduced LIving Laboratory Project in order to activate regional sports medicine industry through the LINC+ which connects students to respective industry after graduation. 

"Oriental Sports Medicine major is the first case in the region and it delivers upgraded curriculum that combines oriental medicine with western medicine" says Kim.

Oriental Sports Medicine deals with yin and yang, the Five Modes of Action, western medicine and history of health exercise. Students with the major can work as personal trainer and rehab trainer at various health institutions. 

Years of Kim's passion and capability was well recognized by winning excellent academic research prize from the Korean Journal of Sport Science run by the Korea Institute of Sport Science in 2016 and 2017 followed by the Innovation Winner 2019 and 2020. 

She also won the excellent academic research prize from the Korea Society of Golf Studies in 2019 with her paper 'Comparison of Eight-direction Balance Ability and Spinal and Pelvic Stability Factors Between University Golf Players and Normal Students'. 

Kim proved in the paper that stability of spine and pelvis is important for golf exercise by measuring distances and angles of body movements to 8 directions. Gyroscope sensor was used in the measuring. 

"In a nutshell, the paper proves that balance of body is very important for both professional and amateur golfers to improve scores" explains Kim. 

"Research capability can decide who will be the professor in the future as Youtube instructors are changing the way we learn things. But research is a specialized area carried on by specialized group of people. Alongside my research, I also want to work together with local government and health organizations to promote health of people" adds Kim.
